Pamplona Bull Run leaves a man dead & several others injured!!

Pamplona Bull Run - Pamplona Bull Run held in July @ Spain
Poland
July 10, 2009 7:12am CST
I have just read that during the Pamplona Bull Run held in Spain each year, a mand has been left dead whilst some others injured. I think these people are crazy to go there and enjoy being chased by bulls!! I cannot understand what the fun in this is?! Fortunately such accidents don't happen every year. Last man left dead was in 1995 during a similar event. Do you have such events in your country? and have you ever participated in a similar activity? how does it feel?

The bull fight in the arena is surely animal cruelty. In this case during the run it is more human self inflicted pain since the bull is not hurt, but I still don't like such activity.

Friday morning I was listening to my local news broadcast and they said there was to be a running of the bulls here in New Orleans the next day. I was sitting at the computer at the time and when I heard this it completely broke m concentration. I tried to figure out how this could be the third year for such a crazy thing to take place and for me not to have heard about it. Turns out the "bulls" were a bunch of women on skates known as the "Big Easy Rollergirls" dressed in red and wearing horns chasing men down the street with fake baseball bats! Can you imagine? I wish I had been there with my video camera but I was not in the mood to move that early on yesterday. The things people come up with...

Yes, that is the point. If I had known sooner I might have mentally prepared myself to get out there and video tape it.

Well... good for the bull. I really have problems with this bull runs and even if there are no fatal injuries I can tell you for sure that there are injuries every single time. People are really strange in their wishes to prove their manhood, their courage, etc. Who in their right mind would face a bull in that way? I am afraid that back home - in Portugal - we also have bull runs. ANd I never liked them. Actually I cheered for the bull every single time. The poor animal has no choice but to be there. The people, they're just there because they're crazy. To answer your questions, no I have never participated in any way, not even watching.

Yes a lot of people from other places go to watch. Many are just curious to see, some actually participate. It is dangerous regardless of it being a tradition or not. In Portugal, the bulls are let on the streets and often jump over fences into where the spectators are. I would never have guessed that they could jump that high, but I friend sometimes sends me pictures. It might seem to be fun, but it's certainly not fun for the bull, and the amount of people that get hurt - even if it's not serious injuries - is incredible.

it's very dangerous. I've seen videos of this race on youtube and there's nothing fun about it. If a bull leaves the pack he will infuriate and can become very dangerous.
