hi, I am planning to buy a dell laptop...and i am confused of where to buy....that is to go for online or to buy it in retail shops. my friends say that to is cheaper to buy in retail shops than the online rates...because they will not impose much tax like on the online.....because the retailers will buy in bulk orders and that they will save tax and shipping rates and this can make them to sell in low rates ... please make some good comments on this because i am in a hurry and confused state.......

Best Buy is the best place to buy a computer and they stand by their warranties. We bought a Dell once and it only lasted about 6 months, when we tried to get some service on it, I had to call Africa and we had a hard time communicating! I would never buy a Dell again! We love our HP. Good luck! On the other hand, I have friends that have Dell computers and they wouldn't gt anything else. Your choice.

Save yourself some money and future frustration and don't even bother getting a Dell. They're absolute crap. I've had 4. The first two were through my college, and their hard drives failed. The third one I was stupid enough to buy, and it's whole motherboard crapped out on me. The fourth was a gift from my parents, and it started crashing the day I took it brand new out of the box. My best friend also has a Dell that has given her nothing but trouble from day one. Dell's customer service is horrible. They don't know what they're doing, they don't fix the problem, it takes them forever to respond, and half the time they're rude about it. I have an Acer and I'm very happy with it. It was about half the price of a Dell with similar system specs, and I've had no problems with it. Most larger electronics retailers carry Acer computers, so they're not difficult to find. The key point is, definitely consider other brands before you buy a Dell.

Had similar experience with Dell. Now I'm using Presario, nothing great, but much much better than a Dell. Please don't go for a dell! Go for an Acer/Presario which is a far better option.
