Regular batteries or Rechargeables?

Which do you prefer? Is it worth the extra money for reusable batteries? Do you think they work as well? I use rechargeables but they tend to die sooner.

Rechargeables, they can save a lot of money and they last longer, so you're not polluting as much with all the toxins in batteries. They do seem to not last as long on a charge though. If I'm going someplace where I won't have a charger sometimes I'll use regular batteries so I have longer uninterrupted power.

Certain equipment like digital cameras, cell phones will work well with rechargeble batteries. However items like clocks, torch will work better with regular batteries. SO it's hard to say.
