Why no mention of OIL, the real reason, Obama's trip to Ghana

This just illustrates how kept in the dark American's can be. The reason Obama is visiting Ghana (Africa) is because their trying to strike a deal with them for oil since in a previous trip Russia and China did the same thing! Who is going to reign supreme in Ghana's decision and if it doesn't go to us it couldn't really steer the table of world politics because the oil reserve is large.
Anybody for oil alternatives yet?

I had no idea about the oil. We're like mushrooms here, we're kept in the dark and fed bull sh*t. We know only what they want us to know and most Americans don't questions the "wisdom" of their "leaders".
It's way past time for alternatives! We could have had solar power and other clean energy right now if not for the big oil interests and the people who profit from them. We'll never get it until the oil runs out, I'll practically guarantee you that. Greed rules the world--there's never enough money for those greedy monsters.

I think I'm what you call a right-winger, although I'm more of a Liberal Conservative. I don't really agree with either party, Libertarian is closer to my philosophy.
I'm surprised that there is no input from Obama supporters.

We knew about Ghana's oil reserves since March of 2007. They are sitting on about two billion barrels of KNOWN reservoirs, with many more being explored every day.
Libya has the most on the African continent (39.1 billion barrels in reserve), which by your theory means President Obama's meeting with Moamar Qaddafi (sp?) had ulterior motives rather than the G8 summit?
China, India and several other nations just coming into their own industrialization are rejecting any leanings toward renewable fuels, such as wind & solar, which kills me, with their workforce, they could viably have the vast majority of the worlds manufacture of solar panels & wind turbine units...perhaps I over simplify it though....I have a hybrid, I love it, would only trade in for BETTER mileage.
end fossil fuel dependency, your children's kid's life depend on it.

I'm speaking to you at the end of a long trip. I began in Russia for a summit between two great powers. I traveled to Italy for a meeting of the world's leading economies. And I've come here to Ghana for a simple reason: The 21st century will be shaped by what happens not just in Rome or Moscow or Washington, but by what happens in Accra, as well.

I'd like to think he was suggesting that the governments of Africa's many nations need to get their stuff together, stop funding/aiding/backing militarily any of them that are stealing humanitarian relief/aid sent to their respective countries. Good governance is a start. Ghana is the one country where democracy has taken root and is expanding, they are the African poster child (country) for democracy. I just hate that oil will be the sole export product and their entire economy will depend on it...look where it's gotten the US.
