Do you guys give out your real name to those you have just met online? I am very particular when it comes to privacy, tho if i've been friends for quite sometime with that person, I think that there will be no problem in telling my real name. So how about you, do you give your name to the person that you've just met online?

People I've met online almost always will know my name only after we've met. (Well, at least before Facebook came.) Today's web culture is such that it is now easier to blur real-life with life online.

I've never had a reason to reveal my full name to anyone in an online environment. Nobody has ever given me an ultimatum. I used to play an online video game called Phantasy Star Online, and people on there never made it a point to find out who I was on a personal level. I mean there were times when my A/s/l were asked for, but I never acknowledged the pervs who requested such into. With my current user name, I don't feel the need to tell people what my full name is. C.B. Jones is who I would like to be known as. They can guess what the C.B. stands for if they like, but it's no big deal really.

If I give my real name it is only my nick name, people I meet online are virtual people and they could be anything, no one knows what is true about people online.

I don't.when I am chatting online I use Coco as my name.even in the social networking sites I signed up for,I use Coco as my name.I don't really like to give out my real name, not because I hate it,but because I don't want somebody to pry on my privacy.

I always give out my real name in any account online, but not on my lot, i use my user name, not so connected to my real name, if they ask my name i always give it, because being true is a process to success.

Not to people I've "just" met. If I've known them for a few years then yes, especially if we are mailing things or on FB, otherwise no. I used to use my last initial on my FB for my last name BUT then hubby got on FB and used his info so it's kinda silly for example Snuggle S to be Married to Mel Smith.... really do the math *LOL* S = Smith ya know?!?!

I am hesitant to give out my name onlie as well. I only give my name after knowing the person or having some level of trust in that person. So far only a very small number of online friends know my full name. I'll keep it that way as you can never tell who you will come upon in cyber space.

I much prefer not to give out my real name online. I feel uncomfortable giving it out to people online. I guess it's probably because of all the things that can happen through the internet. You can never be sure what may or may not happen, and I think that it's probably best for everyone to protect their identity with people they don't know and meet online.

I never give out my real name online. I have a fake name that I made up years ago that I give to everyone, so it almost feels like my second name. That way, I don't feel weird about giving a fake name, but I also keep myself safe. I've heard too many horror stories about crazies tracking people down just from their last name and the state they live in. On the rare occasion that I find someone online that I really want to know my name, I only give them my first. I've found that anyone who is insistent on knowing your real name online is probably someone you really don't want knowing it.
