Is Adobe reader is safe?

All we know that Adobe reader is used to open and read PDF files. Generally everyone thinks that adobe programs are safe. I read in a magazine that Adobe Systerms Inc., made an announcement that their famous PDF software Adobe reader for Windows,Mac and Linux editions are vulnerable to hackers attack in some places. So I can make Adobe reader recent edition of 9.1 safe from hackers? Can anyone please explain me how to avoid this?

Actually this software Adobe Reader is there in my computer. But I never tried to use it. I think, I tried some times, but something wrong with that I couldn't work on it. Anyway thanks for the information that this software can attack hackers.

Well no programs in this world is safe yea . And that does apply to adobe reader also yea .
