Hey mylotters, here is a good question which I"m curious about, when you go out to eat, do you eat all of the food that is on your plate. Or do you try to be modest and leave a little bit on the side? If you eat all of the food on your plate, why do you? Anxious to hear your response! Have fun mylotting!

It is very hard to leave food on my plate. When I was growing up we had to always eat everything on our plates - not that it was hard to do because we didn't usually have a lot of food. It's something that has stuck with me and I hate to see food go to waste. It takes a lot of effort for me not to eat all my food. If it's a lot of food leftover, I will take a box to carry it home with me.

I figure if I paid money for it, I'm going to eat it. I don't have a ton of spare cash sitting in dusty piles all over my house, and if I'm going to spend it, I'm going to get all that I spent it on. Quite frankly, if someone I goes with, doesn't want all they get for food, then they should either buy a smaller portion, and give me the money they didn't waste on food they didn't want.... or give me the remaining food they don't want, and I'll save it for lunch the next day. :)

Well, in the first place, when I go out to have lunch or dinner, I prefer to go to a restaurant which serves buffet. So, there I would control myself and take just what I can finish, so that I wouldn't waste any thing. Some times, I have leave some things, because after I have taken it, and after tasting it, I would find that it is just not the taste I like. Sorry, but had to leave. That happens some times , but rarely !

I am the type of person who never finishes my food in a restaurant. I always seemed full while in the restaurant cause they always give you huge portions of food. The only way that I would eat the entire food is if I am like extremely hungry and i'd have to be really hungry to finish a large plate of food. Or unless the portion of the food is like really small and I am able to finish it. I am also always the last person to finish their food and when I eat with other people, they always seem ready to go when I am still earing. So then since they are already ready to go, then I just get a to go box. But I mostly never finish my food and I always bring home leftovers.

My husband and I go out to eat quite a bit. I usually don't eat everything on my plate. I ask for a doggie bag and my husband saves it for his lunch the next day. Usually the servings are very big at restaurants.

I usually eat my fill. That's not always everything that's on the plate, so I leave what I can't eat. I'm not a modest person and don't mind cleaning my plate, but restaurant portions tend to be much, much larger than what I can comfortably eat. Thank goodness for doggie bags! :)

In my case I am always getting a doggie bag. I had bypass surgery a year ago and I am still unable to eat that much. Plus many places give you 3-4 times the normal portion size. What about you? Do you leave some food?

hi City, I always seem to leave a good portion of food back in my plate and it is not out of modesty, I just simply feel that I am full. Then even one morsel seems to be such a demanding task. Happy mylotting.

When I was younger I tried the modestly thing. I would look around to see whon was looking at me and I would always leave something on my plate, even if I wanted to eat it. I would also only take a small amount at buffets if I was with people who did not eat much. Now I don't care what people think. I am going to eat whatever I choose to eat and how much I choose. The interesting thing is my appetite is not nearly as big as it use to be, so I naturally eat less, but I eat based on my wants and not what anyone else thinks.

My eating habits when we go out to a restaurant really depend on one thing, just how hungry I am. Seriously, if I skip a meal I before I go out, I will want to eat everything. We'll order appetizers and salads and a big entree. Then I will eat until (here's the key) I am full. I never over-stuff myself, especially when I am out in a restaurant. I have found that there are few occasions that I will actually still be hungry enough (or at all)after my entree to actually order dessert. Most of the time I will have some of my entree left to take home and enjoy the next day.

I normally eat everything on my plate. Who cares who's watching. Does that mean that I pay for something and still go hungry cause the people across from me are looking. I normally only order what I intend to eat anyway so that nothing will go to waste. A few times I have had to get a doggie bag, but thats rarely ever. And dont let me be at a buffet. I eat a little bit of everything. But the key to all of this is that I eat until I AM satisfied. Not by how much the next person thinks I should eat. I mean who can gauge what will satisfy the next person. The only people I know that can do that is mothers when they are feeding their children. And even that is an estimation cause I can tell you this you pull a bottle from a baby who's not finished eating and you will hear them cry.

I couldn´t posibly eat everything that a restaurant serves. It´s a lot more than what I eat at home. And When my friends or family take me out it is to those fancy restaurants where we ask for appetizers first with a drink, a two course meal sometomes. Most of the people I go out with also ask for a dessert but I just dringk a black coffee. But by no means that food that I leave at my plate goes to the garbage can! I ask a doggy bag and tuen myslf into a dog at home. Sometimes I eat a couple of days with the leftovers. My family asks for doggy bags too and hands them to me.

hey there citychic... funny but most people tell me i eat like a bird . . i usually never finish my plate and it isnt cause i am trying to be modest . . the portions are usually too big and as i am not that big of a person i think that they make the plate for much bigger people so it is nice when i go out with someone who wants to share something . .that way we can get more of a variety and then i dont feel so guilty that i didnt finish! now if it were a lobster i might finish it . .but i wouldnt have anything to start with . i would rather save my appetite for that lobster

well, when i go out to eat, we usually order a few things and everyone takes what they want. this way we can try more new dishes. I only leave food on the plate if i can't eat any more or if i don't like how it tastes.

Resturant food plates are way too full - they give you way too much food. I never finish what is on my plate . I usully like to take home because they taste so good when they are heated up :)
