What helps you to sleep better at night?

Sleeping with eye-shade - Eye-shade can sometimes help a person sleep better. The darkness that it created can help calm and soothe a person, helping them to doze off in no time.

It is only natural that we sleep. We need to sleep at least 8 hours a day to stay healthy and alive. Some people are lucky to easily doze off at the touch of a pillow. Some, after turning and tossing for an hour are still wide awake. My 2 year old toddler needs his eye-shade and pacifier to get to sleep. Once asleep, I'll remove the eye-shade and the pacifier. Me? I need total darkness and quiet to sleep whilst my husband just need a pillow and there he goes into slumberland. What helps you to sleep better at night? I am not talking about day time nap, I am talking about the deep sleep at night when we recharge ourselves in order to live life the fullest the very next day!

I have something that might help you! I was like you, only a little worse by the sound of it. It would take me anywhere from one hour to three hours to go to sleep after laying down in total darkness. My husband, on the other hand, could fall asleep literally within a minute. Through a roundabout way I started meditating before sleep. The way I do it involves deep breathing exercises and thinking calming thoughts. You breathe all the way in as far as you can go through your nose, then let it all out slowly through your mouth three times. During this I usually envision myself under the sun as it is warming and healing me. Since I started doing this a few weeks ago, I have been falling asleep within fifteen minutes. I would highly recommend trying it, and trying other methods if this one doesn't work as well for you. I had trouble falling asleep on a nightly basis and this has not failed me yet. Good luck! :)

Meditating? I've heard of it but never tried it though. I just couldnt get myself to focus to visualise all the calmer things. I tried to visualise waterfall once, but failed miserable when a rhino came into the picture! But maybe I didnt breathe in properly. Tonite, I shall try your breathing techniques. :)

It sometimes is very hard to focus on visualizing calming things if your mind is going a mile a minute. Haha, a rhino at a waterfall. Your mind is trying to play with you! :) Good luck and let me know if it works for you.

i am not a good sleeper. i dont get thet much needed deep sleep that you need to restore your body. i acutally take sleeping pills to achieve that. i am like you too that it needs to be dark and quiet before i can go to sleep.

oh cher, I am not into the stage where I need sleeping pills. I do hope I dont need medication to fall asleep. Isnt there anything else that can help you besides medication? Poor you. I take a glass of warm milk before sleeping. Somehow, it helps a little.

hello there! i'm not a bad sleeper that my eyes readily shut off when the right time comes at night.. i mean i just fall asleep when i'm sleepy. but there are times when i really sleep so late that it would be difficult for me to sleep anymore no matter what. for these times, all i need to do is to turn on the tv set and watch it until i fall asleep, it helps somehow.

Whoa, you can sleep with the tv on? I just cant, dont know why. I'll just be distracted by it all that I'll force my eyes open just to see what's on tv! Then, when I really looked like a panda, I'll somehow will fall asleep only to be awaked a couple of hours later by the alarm clock. Apparently, it is already morning when I fall asleep. Sigh.

I need a dim light to sleep, and also my comforter/ sheet. I must have a cover to cover myself no matter what is the weather be like. Important is, I can't think/ plan of any stuff before I go to bed, or else I sure dreamt about it and woke up half way through. My baby, only need my 2 little hill(which I substitute with her pacifier).. LOL

Cynthia, you are lucky your baby is an easy sleeper. I need my thick socks too no matter what the weather is. It helps me to feel cosy and nice. Yes, agree with you regarding the thinking/planning part. It will definately keep me awake big time!
