Do you agree that men are more observant than women?

One day, me and my wife had a simple conversation about who are more observant, men or women? I told her, of course women. And of course, she disagreed saying, it's men who are more observant. Being observant is to make notice of what we see around and give both positive and negative comments. Wife said, I am more of a negative observant. But I also said she is more of a negative observant. So what are your reactions? Everyone is welcome.

Well I admit I am very observant and my husband is just as observant as I am. But I can't really tell who is more observant between the two of us. What I just noticed is that sometimes he tend to express immediately. I mean all at once he will express what he observes whether it is positive or not. I on the other hand would wait for for proper time first before expressing myself especially if my observation is negative and might hurt the feelings of someone.

dear salonga. you have a point. that maybe why my wife says i am more of a negative observant than her. once i notice something negative, something strange to that person or thing, i will not wait any longer, i'll say it at that time. but of course i am careful not to hurt the person. what is not good with my wife, sometimes, she just say her comment, sometimes people gets hurt... neil

Well, I know for a fact that I'm much more observant than my husband is. But, he's weird, so I can't say for certain that this is normal. My husband's mind is almost always totally focused on one thing, usually some kind of problem he's having with work or whatever it is he's doing at the time. He focuses better than a laser beam! That makes him blind to anything else around him. So, in our house, I'm the one who notices things more. I actually believe that this is the case in most families. Females are more observant, I think, because we have to be. We're normally the child rearers, the housekeepers, the grocery shoppers, etc. We have a lot we have to think about at all times so our minds are always busy.

dear mentalward. women being more busy in the house than men maybe possible to say that they are more observant. if men work, they seem to be very concentrated with the said work, but women thinks the other way, for she thinks that after finishing this task, another one is waiting for. might be... neil

Neither gender is more obsrevant. It's an individual thing. Some men are very observant and some wouldn't notice if a piano dropped on their head. The same applies to women. What do you even mean by "observant?" You can be very observant about some types of things, and pay absolutely no attention to other types. Arguments and discussions that just boil down to your personal opinion or experiences don't have much relationship to reality.

I'd dare to say that some people are more observant about certain things and other people are more observant about other things. My husband will be driving along and see all kinds of things that I don't, animals and so on. But in my kitchen he's not all all observant about what goes where, which I pay a lot of attention to. Just depends on how much you're interested in something, I'd say.

dear dawnald, that may be the point. even when i am not driving, i have more attention than girls. and my wife will always say, you still look at girls when you should be looking at the road and not girls? anyway, i am a defensive driver and there had been no incident i've been involved, thank god. but of course, there are some minor road rules that i'd violated... neil

I don't agree with that. I think women are more observant than men. The way you observe - positive on negative, depend on the type of person you are. This is my personal opinion. Because they are good in observing things women usually do good in work that requires attention to detail.

and just like what had mentioned by one responder, women are more observant due to the reason that men usually takes more concentration of their work, they don't bother with other things while having to finish their current work. women works with this task while thinking of what she needs to do next.

in my experience i have found men to be far less observant of day to day things but way more observant when it comes to looking at other women and things like sports. i guess in a nutshell they are more observant when it comes to things they are interested in or if there is something in it for them.

Hi Neil, My husband is prime example of a negative observant, he ind fault with things and yet when I buy a new outfit, he don't notice it, mine you that is to my advantage if I go spend some money on a new outfit, lol!! hugs. Tamara

I think men are more observant than women. I say this not because I am a man but nature really have it for a man. Women are observant in a way that they can make not a deep observation compare to men. Women talk often, men don't thus making it more reliable that the observation of men are far better than women,. Have you seen a lot of people in the public areas and their are women and men but you've seen most men do the observation compare to women.

maybe women are more expressive rather than talkative. and men mostly, not all, just observe and talks later.

i don't think gender matters on this trait.being observant depends on each behaviour, but i can say, kids are those ones i consider keen observer.

I will say that both are good observant in their respective world. Men are good observant of the environment, means if you go somewhere new you will actually map the whole area in your mind to be helpful in future. But women are not good at it. In case of women, they actually observe people that means they actually read what is going on their mind and when & what they are doing anything. They actually love to peek at others mind. But I will personally say that women are good observant than men

There is no precise answer. Everyone can be more observant in other details than everybody else. It's in the personality of the person.

pft..not the ones in my life. if you can sit and watch tv while the washer is flooding halfway into the living room, that's not very observant.or the fact that the aforementioned washer has a sticker this big saying "do not overfill"

i think women are more observant but i think it also depends on what it is.. i think when it comes to looks some men can be more observant and pick people apart more but i think generally women are more observant on everything else..

honestly i am observant, specially people around me.. there's negative and positive.. but more on negative, lol.. it depends on the person i will observe, if she/he is very observant enough with its attire or something, of course i can give my negative compliment, lol...

I think this goes both ways because men or women can be more observant in certain situations that interest them or catch their attention. But I would probably say most of the time women are more observant in a lot of things, but so are men. Its pretty hard to argue about that so I think its really based off of opinion, and experience.
