I g uess Paypal is no longer free

I read in the policy updates, that if the transaction can be considered as fraudulent, that it is no longer acceptable to Paypal. I suppose that means many ptcs and ptrs will no longer be acceptable to Paypal. Not only that, I learned that Paypal will now charge a fee for anything that is commercial. You may have to log in to see this up date. https://www.paypal.com/ca/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_update-policy So if you are not a member of Paypal or do not want to at the moment, I will explain it in brief. What it says is that if you get money from family or friends, you get it for free, but if you buy or sell, or get money from a transaction, you are charged a fee. Now let us get to mylot. We get paid by information and information is a commodity. Also many of us are against the present ruler of either ours or another country, and verbally say, that that one should be removed by legal means. So I guess that would make us a threat and I can understand why there has been this rumor about myLot closing or not being able to pay. If Obama decides that he does not want any opposition, he may decide to go after the sites where people express their opinion and that would lead to a lot of paranoia. So even though most of us consider myLot as a place to connect with friends and to make friends, there is the above. Now the question is do you believe that this policy by Paypal will have a negative effect on mylot, and do you believe that that is the reason why there has been so much worry about these rumors.

I had not heard about this new policy before but I already pay a fee most of the time to receive payments on my PayPal account. I sometimes sell stuff on eBay so I had to get a Premier account with them a few years ago. Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

Nothing is free if you really think about it. I'm not sure about PayPal but if you use it then it becomes a service so eventually you will have to pay for it. I'll still use PayPal but if the block certain sites then those sites won't get used.

When my cousin sends me money or I send her money we aren't charged but they do take a fee out of the money that is sent and we always end up with less then is sent..maybe we are sending it wrong. Paypal is a very strong company and everyone is using it nowdays but I haven't read the updates yet so maybe I should.

Oh I hope this doesn't have an effect on mylot. I haven't signed into paypal since I am now on a public computer so I didn't know about this. That really sucks, when I had a home computer, I use dpaypal a lot, and now they are going to charge me a fee? How much is the fee, a percentage of what amount you are using?

It depends on where you are from and either you pay it or it is absorbed by the paying. You are not charged for sending money between friends and relatives, but if you do any business and buy stuff you will be charged. But I know with a couple of the sites I belong to, they add 2 percent withdrawal fees so do not know if this is in regard to this update from Paypal, but I rather suspect it is.

I got the notice in the mail, with my name on it, telling me that there was a new update in PAYPAL. I did request that when there was an update, they would notify me.

I am in America, Ohio just south of of Michigan. I am curious, how did you find out about the updates? Did you get an e-mail? Because when I went to the account, I didn't see any messages or updates on my profile.

You have read your alert from myLot, yes? I believe what I read from myLot admin. There are no plans to close and there was a glitch in the system for a couple days that prevented earnings from being updated. Paypal, on the other hand, charges me a little over a dollar when someone buys an item I've crocheted. However, when I get paid for a work project via Paypal, there is no charge.

I always send and receive exactly the amount I am supposed to, so I don't think I ever get charged fees. I do have the premier one and I've seen people stating THEY get charged fees but I don't see that - unless that is happening BEFORE the money amount shows. For instance, if mylot is sending me 26.17 and that's what shows the day before it gets zeroed out here again - 26.17 shows in my paypal and that is exactly what I transfer to my bank account. If I send my friend002 $15 for something she is shipping to me in the mail, $15 is exactly what gets transferred from my paypal to hers. I believe the only time I ever saw an extra fee was for something that was in excess of $250, and that was probably some type of 'protection' fee in case the transaction was fraudulent or the other party renigged on the offer. We have buyer protection or something like that. Actually, going back to the idea that this site or any other opinion sharing site could be a threat is almost a shot in the dark. Someone would only show that much interest in something if they were really paranoid themselves. I highly doubt that certain said officials would go around targetting and shutting down all these sites out of 'fear of opposition'. That would only make them look even MORE paranoid, controlling, and psychotic than they already appear to a lot of people, so more or less 'gee, here we go again'. It's not going to change anything anyway, it'll just make them look even more like the paranoid bullies they already are. As things stand, they are doing a pretty horrid job of appearing to be 'wolves in sheep's clothing', I mean we all know better and have seen thru from the start. They are never going to get any better at it and the more time passes, the more people see.
