How do you feel about name calling?

To start this discussion right off with I do NOT like it at all. I have 5 grandchildren and I have to stay on top of the conversations. Name calling seems to plummet when they don't get their way. There is no one that deserves to be humiliated or downgraded by such name calling. I am trying my best to teach them this and on to the adults. To stand back and hear adults name call. That just makes that adult so childish in my eyes. I know one of the reasons we are put here in this world is to encourage one another and uplift each other. Name calling is not uplifting, it is degrading and humiliating to those that are being called names and it is so degrading to the one that is doing the name calling. I have always heard that anyone that degrades or name calls is only doing it to lift themselves up. Well, there are so many other better ways to lift ones self up. And the main one is to encourage and uplift one another and leave off the name calling after all we all are human. Thanks for your posts and if you are thinking of stooping to name calling in this discussion please don't even post a commnet. God bless you!

I totally agree with you. Especially about adults who do it. It makes them sound like little kids who didn't get their own way. When my kids were younger they had a saying "What you say, is what you are". It seems so true.

That saying is exactly right, Sherry! "What you say, is what you are". because the Bible says what we think and say comes from the heart so that is what we are feeling. Wow! That was such a good point, makes me want to "Oh,be careful little tongue what you say. Oh,be careful little tongue what you say. For the Father up above is looking down in love so be careful little tongue what you say." That is a song we sing in Children's Church and is so true! Thanks for you post. God bless you!

I dont mind name calling I dont get offended by it anymore I usally dont care if someone calls me a name or not since I do a lot of name calling I learned not to get affected by it mainly because I dont really care what anyone else thinks of me since I know or would think most people are jealous of me because I have a lot of nice things and a very nice car most people would kill to have lol.

Thank, arcidy, for your post but i feel it is also our responsibility to teach others the proper way to act. I feel there are people, whether kids or adults, that are watching our every move. That give us a large responsibility to teach others the way we should act. Thanks again for your post and God bless you!

I dont think name calling is ever necessary. Thats why so many people have low self esteem these days. Name calling makes us feel self conscious, and thats why people have to get plastic surgery, and do all these different things to change themselves. If people wouldnt make fun of other people, we wouldnt have as many problems as we would today. I was self conscious for the longest time because people would make fun of me for being so skinny. I tried everything i could to gain weight, but it just never did anything. Ive realized now i shouldnt have listened to people. Can you imagine how many people wouldnt have been shooting people in school, or murdering people? I just wish people could learn to get along.
