How many text messages do you send every day?

July 13, 2009 4:17pm CST
I send a awful amount of texts everyday. The average would be around 100 a day. Now i ask how many you send just to see if it is something to do with age. Or maybe it is to do with whether you are in a relationship or not. I understand my average is quite high, what is yours?

Well, I use my phone for work as well & I get a lot of messages from work. Most I've ever gotten in a sigle month in past 3 years was around 8,000, not counting emails. Least I've ever gotten was about 3 month ago, around 2500.
13 Jul 09
well that certainly is a large amount. a lot more than i would of expected. It is obvious that your job is taking up about 95% of that number.

Actually, it's closer to 50%, may be little more than that. I have my email set up so that even if an emails comes to my phone, they won't get deleted out of the server until I download them on to my computer. I do that about once a month. I have it set up so that my phone automatically deletes messages every 2 weeks, 15 days to be exact. Once a week, I download emails to my computer as a back up. That being said, most of the messages I get from work are in forms of emails. My bill doesn't show how many emails I've gotten, just sms & mms. I have a seperate folder on my computer for work related emails & every month, I get somewhere between 1200 - 1500 emails from work. Most of the text message I get from work are pretty much simple things. "You got a call from Mr. XXX. He's expecting your call at (xxx)xxx-xxxx" or "We need Purchase Order form from last week. Remember where you put'em?" or something like, "XXXX called out. Could you cover for him?" I do have 2 jobs & when I'm in one, I get messages like that from the other. Others are either from my co-workers, non work related stuff like "Hey, when you taking lunch?" or "Hey, your, lunch, delivery is here!" or my girl friend saying, "Could you pick up milk on your way home?" type of things. They're all pretty much a mix.

This is a really good question because I know cell phones are really important when it comes to everyday life, because they are a good way to get in touch with someone in case of an emergency such as if you have an accident or break down, and I know it seems like almost everyone has a cell phone nowadays, and every time you turn around they are talking on their cell phones, which it is dangerous when you see people driving down the road, talking on their cell phone and not paying attention to the road infront of them, and I am sure most people can not spend a single day without a cell phone, and then I am sure there are people who do not care if they have a cell phone or not,and I am sure that different people have different opinions when it comes to text messaging,I am sure some people can not live without sending a text while others might never send a text, and I know that everyone is different, and that everyone has different ideas, different opinions, and different preferences, and since everyone is different it makes things interesting, and when it comes to me I do not text anyone except maybe every once in a while because I think it is a waste of time and money, have a great day, good luck with your life, and all of your mylotting goals, and Happy Posting.

Yeah it is a huge waste of time, and it does take ten times as long to type out a message as it does to call and tell someone the message, even thought it is true ten cents a message is cheaper then twenty cents a connection charge, but looking at the big picture is is a huge waste of time, and that sounds like a good reason to start the discussion and I am sure there probably is a connection like teens send more text messages then adults or at least that it is the way it looks to me,you are very welcome for the response,I am always happy to respond to peoples discussions, because I like to share my opinions with others, and I also like to learn new things, have a great day, good luck with your life, and all of your mylotting goals, and Happy Posting.

lol, yes it is a waste of time really. takes 10 times longer to write anythin out in a message than it does to call. but surely it is cheeper to text something like 'where r u' for 10c than it is to call and pay a 20c connection charge. yet, by in large it is a waste of time.i started this discusssion to see if there was a relationship between ones age the amount of texts one sends. thhanks for your response.

I don't send text messages. I do have unlimited texting on my phone though. I just don'thae anyone to text to. My daughter will talk to me on the phone but she doesn't text. I think we would rather talk than text. I think more younter poeple and teens will text more than others will. I am a grandmother so to me it was never a thought to text anyone. I do have a grandson that likes to text but right now he doesn't have it, and when ht get a new phone, I will probably text him. Have a good day, and happy mylotting.

For an average, mine is around 20-30 messages per day, as well. My credit load sometimes expires before I even consume it all up.

if you can afford it i recomend getting on a monthly contract. pay and go is a rip off, if you use it regularly. thanks for responding

I could send around 50-70 a day. Personal and work related. I could also send more than 100 if I'm in the mood to text people just to say "Good Morning" or "Have a nice day."
13 Jul 09
yeah, sometimes i get in the mood too and end up textin people unnecessarily with mudane things like ' whats up?' or 'heya'

Hi friend, sending text messages have become my habit in the past one year or so.I send around 100-125 text messages per day. This might have increased if my mobile can accomodate some more distribution lists. In the beginning stages I sent around 50 messages but later it went on increasing.I feel the number of text messages sent depends on number of friends you have and their responses. When many reply to you for your messages the count of your messages increases. It also depends on your schedule, if you have got tight schedule you may not send many messages. The count of free messages per day also matters. When you have got manu free messages per day you are tempted to sent many messages.I personally feel students sent more messages than any other category of people.Cheers!!!
14 Jul 09
i also beleive students sends the most texts. I also beleive students with partners text even more. your average is around the same as mine so i must ask , are you a student?

When i was in high school, i didnt realize it, but i was sending a few hundred texts a day. I even did it when my husband was home. He doesnt have a phone now because he's in afghanistan, and american phones dont work overseas, but when he was home i would text him all day long and he would text me back. He would be at work from 4 am until about 5 or 6 pm, and they didnt always have work to do because hes a mechanic and he fixes helicopters in the army. So when he didnt have anything to do he would text me all day long. He was able to buy a phone in afghanistan, but his new phone number is 11 numbers instead of ten, so hes not able to text me from it. He can only call me from a special calling card and i call him from a website. Now i only text maybe 5, or 10 messages in a day. I just dont have anybody to talk to anymore really. Everybody went their seperate ways after school, and without my husband home, i just dont really have many people to talk to.
13 Jul 09
I feel really sorry for you, you must miss your husband madly and the limited contact must make the cross more to bare. though you have helped my research , i thought that the people with the higher text counts per day ould be in close relationships. thanks for ya response, hope ya see ya loved one again real soon.

Hey, I usually send text messages in emergency times, for example if no one can pick me up from where I am, I simply text message someone else so they can pick me up. But some days I also like to message my friends, and ask them how things are going. Make sure you have a good day, Happy Lotting!!
