What FlashDrive do you use? Lexar or.....

I am using a flash drive/jumpdrive to back up my PC harddrive and all. I purchased a Memorex 1GB previously and it works fine, but it wasn't large enough for everything on my HD.. So I just put my photos on it and now have purchased a Lexar 4GB/USB. I like to stay with the brands I have used and have had good luck with and know how to use. I can't find Memorex brand, so I have heard (I think) of Lexar brand... It was the cheapest by a few dollars, but that is not an issue to me... I had never heard of the other brand and Sony was the only other one offered and it was a bit more expensive... Lexar was just on sale this week. My question: Does anyone have any comments or likes/dislikes about the Lexar brand of flash drive?

I have been using kingston and lexar memory sticks alongside for the last one, though it's almost 5 year with kingston. Most of the time i had to be in a hurry while doing work and quite often i didn't safely remove the drive. Instead i just directly remove it from the port. I was using kingston 1 gb flash drive first and it's still working. But, for memory's sake i bought a 4 gb kingston flash drive one and half years back. Just one year back i got a lexar 2gb flashdrive as a present for birthday. So, i've been using all of them as per the need. I have noticed that the data transfer is faster with kingston and even if i remove the flashdrive directly it hasn't caused me any problem for so long.

I have used a flash and a memory stick (from my camera) in the USB ports and always remove them using the "safely remove Hardware" feature. So is sounds like you have good luck with using them. I didn't see a Kingston - but then I was only at Target!!! Speed is not an issue more or less.. I only have personal stuff on there.. I am a novice! But my reason for this is to back up the harddrive in case of a crash.. I can then use the flashdrive to reinstall everything... can't I? I am trying to save myself the cost of a new PC!!! I currenly just have my photos backed up on a flash. Sounds like you have had good luck with different brands. That is a plus and probably no more than I need them for...I guess Lexar would be as good as any others. Thanks for your comments

I've never had any trouble with Lexar in the past, but I back up to an online service called Memo Pal. That way I don't have to worry about what to take with when I travel. I can access the stuff from anywhere. I think...

I've heard about those, but I don't have stuff that would be a huge loss if I did loose it! I dont' have business or the like.. just personal stuff... and since I don't travel or am mobil about it.. I have my photos on a flash already and was intending to put the whole C: drive on one and the D drive on the other. Not sure if I'd know what to do with them if I did crash and had them, but better to have and not need, than need and not have!

I am using Sandisk. Here we don't have Lexar available. Only brands are Transcend, SanDisk, Moseabaer and few others. but sandisk is having faster reading and writing speed. that's why I preferred it.

Faster speed, huh? Didn't know that was an issue... these say "Hi Speed USB Secure Flash Drive" but don't say how fast is "HI Speed" is. Does that relate to how fast it copys over or installs from the flash drive to the hard drive? I guess I didn't know anything about "speed" being an issue... could you elaborate?

Kingston is popular.. but I have not seen that brand anywhere. I was looking for Memorex as I havea small one of that and was going to stick with what I know works, but apparently they don't make them anymore as I can't find them, and Sony and Lexar and another brand I never neard of is all I can find..

i like my sandisk micro cruzer 2GB drive. its very convenient since the usb plug can retract in and out. the design is a very simple clean black and very compact. ive had literally no problems with the flash drive, and ive been using it for a good couple years. my only complaint about sandisk's flash drives is that they usually come with the U3 software that pops up every single time u plug it in. additionally, that U3 program requires another program to be uninstalled. a little program that you find on the internet will get rid of it. i have used lexar brand flash drive before and there really isnt many complaints. when shopping for a flashdrive, id say go with the best bang for your buck, the most GB u can get with your money. really, there isnt a bad way to go with flashdrives.

Hey, I actually think that Lexar is quite a good brand when it comes to Flash Drives and other data storage devices if you know what I mean. I have heard that some of them have quite a good data transfer rate too. Make sure you have a good day, Happy Lotting!!

I use a Sony brand flash drive, and that's been pretty good to me so far. I've had it about a year. I personally like Sony, and I've never tried Lexar - nor have I ever heard anything bad about it!

I use Kingston, 512 MB and 2 GB. In addition to flashdisk, I also use the extra harddisk 80GB. Each is used as needed.

i use a pny 4 gb flash drive and it serves me just fine. I use it mainly for backing up things. It is really handy to have. since i fix alot of people computers the programs on my flashdrive are really handy to have. my 4 gb was only like 8 bucks so it wasnt bad price i must admit.

Backing up is exactly what I want to do with it. NOthing major... just my photos and My Document stuff, resumes and personal things, blog posts I have wrriten and just things like that. I only have a few store bought games and they are for my grand daughter so I can always reinstall them... But if a crash or a virus that wipes out my harddrive.. granted I probably could recreate everything and even if i couldn't.. it'd be inconvenient, but not life-ending! I mainly want my photos ... those are the only thing I couldn't recreate!!! IS there a life expectancy of flash drives? I mean... do they wear out? I wouldn't be using them but probably every other month or so to keep up with everything,,, but I have heard something aobut the wearing out... do they?
