How from away from home did you go for college? Were you in state? In the region? Across the country? Maybe in a different country? And did you deliberately want to stay close/ go far or was just where the school you liked best happened to be?

I am far from home, too, but not even in the same state. I liked being away, though and didn't miss home.

Yeah that's pretty far. At my school everyone lives in on-campus dorms anyway so I would have done that regardless but my home is like 20 hours from school if you drive non-stop.

Yes, I am in college now. I suppose yes a lot of people do but almost none of my high school friends went to college. From my high school only about 20% go to college, but then again it was in a poorer area and other schools would have higher rates.

I'm from Hong Kong but I go to university in Pennsylvania.. yeah. It's a long way from home and I also looked at other schools in the region as well as europe. I guess I didn't get into my top choice school but between the states and europe I wanted to go to the U.S. more..and then I got there and was overwhelmed by the whole idea of "greek life"... I'm not sure I like it so much anymore though and I feel like I joined a frat to be accepted in the school but I might just give up altogether and switch schools...

My school is in Pennsylvania too! Mine has frats and sororities too but I didn't join anything. Not all schools have it though. Some don't even allow it.

I went far from home, too. I don't really miss my family away when I am home though, so there is really no downside.

I am the same way. My home and my school are the same country but still very far apart (1070 miles- I don't know km well). It's so expensive and inconvenient to go back and forth so I don't often.
