I have bought and enjoy everything in a package salad, they seem neat to me and I believe it is much cheaper than buying every ingridient for the salad. I recently bought Asian Island Crunch Salad, it seems very good to me. I need to eat it as a dinner soon, but it should remain fresh for a couple more days. So have you bought salads like that? What do you think?

packed salads are quite nice to look at and much affordable compared to those that you need to prepare. The advantage of packed salads: 1. it is cheap, 2. it is convenient 3. it is fresh 4. and the serving is just right for a single person. The prepare yourself salad may be time consuming, but it may serve many people, or if not you can preserve the unused vegetables at the refrigerator and you could make use of it after a few days. I think that both have its own benefits, but in our country... Buying the ingredients separately is much cheaper compared to buying the packed salads since the only restaurants that serve salads are fine dining restaurants. We do have local salads, like salads that make use of cucumber mixed with sugar, salt, pepper, and vinegar.... that one is cheap, but tasty. Other salad I know is Kinilaw, wherein you mix raw tuna fish, ginger, coconut milk, vinegar, onions, cayenne pepper and chicaron (crispy pork you can find it an oriental store). They call it kinilaw. The vinegar will cook up the raw tuna fish. It is really very delicious. You should look it up in the internet. We also use unripe papaya to make salad, They also call it atchara. We have many salads here in the Philippines.

I am interested in the Papaya salad. It sounds good, the cucumber one is great but the other not so good for us, not all of us at home like seafood, however it is cooked is not important, just that they won't eat it. LOL Thanks for sharing, in here one can buy a salad almost everywhere, but if it is a luxury item in your country is best to prepared one self. I do not see myself preparing a salad for around 3, all the ingridients will be a lot more. Thanks for sharing.

I'm just gonna give you the recipe. I know you will love it. It is good to have it as a salad when eating grilled foods. Here is the recipe: Atsara Recipe: 4 1/2 cups shredded green raw papaya 1 tablespoon salt 1/2 cup red bell pepper, julienned 1/4 cup thinly sliced shallots 1 large clove garlic sliced thinly crosswise 1/2 cup raisins 1/4 cup carrots thinly sliced 1 1/2 inch piece ginger, julienned 1/4 cup pineapple chunks, fresh or canned, halved if you want 1 cup vinegar 1 cup sugar 1 tablespoon salt or to taste 1) Peel the papaya and discard seeds. Shred. 2) Put shredded papaya in a bowl and sprinkle with salt and toss, Let sit for an hour or so, and squeeze by the handful to squeeze the juice off 3)Bring vinegar, salt, and sugar to the boil in a saucepan. What you are trying to achieve is a nice balance of sour to sweet to salty taste, with sweet and sour dominating 4)When the mixture reaches to a boil, whisk until sugar and salt are dissolved 5)Remove from heat and set aside to cool while you prepare the rest of the ingredients 6) Put everything in a large bowl, pour the vinegar mixture on top and combine well 7) Refrigerate, cover and let it cure before serving. If place in the refrigerate it could last several days to months. 3. 3)

I live in a country where we rely less on packaged food. I have never bought a salad except perhaps in a restaurant[ even then it is a faroff thing. I normally prepare them at home [ and add salt and lime to the chopped vegetables].That is all.

I love the packaged salads. We probably buy them just about every week or so. I really love the whole idea of not having to buy all of the separate ingredients just to make a salad. I also just read that if you shake the salad out of the bag instead of using your fingers to get the salad out, then the salad will last longer in the bag.

That's a great tip, thanks for sharing it, I also love buying because it seems like a great lunch to take to work or a small picnic.

I only buy them when they're on special offer or reduced to clear. I like the cheese pasta layered salads and ranch style. Today I had a pesto pasta salad with cherry tomatoes and spinach... I wont bother with that one again - it was horrible!

Is not just salad, it is Asian Island Crunch Salad, and it had whatever it has with dressing. (I think you mean with out adding anything to the lettuce, tomatoes and any green in the salad.) SO yeah, the answer is no.
