It must be interesting to be a Weather Observer for the Weather Service. I've always been interested in the weather even though I'm not an official observer. When I was a little girl, Hurricane Hazel came through our are and did a lot of damage, even though we are 100 miles inland from the NC coast. We had lots of trees down and no power for days. Then in 1996 we had another bad hurricane in our area, Hurricane Fran, which also caused lots of damage and flooding. We have a lot of interesting weather here in NC. We had a severe ice storm in 2001 that caused major power outages for days and a lot of tree damage.
