Marring some one from another country

I am in the process of going through a goverment process to marry my fiance who lives in canada. What they don't tell you is how long everything takes and you can't really get a date until after you get the visa you need. That could take anywhere from 2 months to a whole year! just to get your fiance in the u.s anyway to get married. I was wondering if any of you have gone through this before? Also it cost a ton to just get them to be able to live with you after your married. I just am so sad. I wanted to get married soon but it looks like this is going to take a while. Just thought I would share my frustration here. thanks

hey jeyviolin, i am sorry that it takes so much just to get married to a person in another country. i have not had any friends who got married to citizens of another country, but is sounds like such a lot of pain. i think the concerned authorities should work on reducing the time frame drastically. all the best to you and wish that it all happens quickly.

Well it is rough for sure. I believe the government does everything they can to speed it but when you have millions of applications to process it is hard. I just wish they didn't have to put so much on it. I wish it was just one thing instead of 100. Thank you for you encouragement.
