Have your pets/animals ever saved your life?

Or do you know anyone who has been saved by an animal? I have heard stories of animals sensing carbon dioxide poisoning, defending their humans from burgulars, etc. Do you know anyone who has been through a situation like this? I have one story to share. Years and years ago, in middle school, I was taunted for being vegetarian. I had literally over 200 individuals emotionally torturing me on any given day...some of them, I didn't even know, but they knew who I was. After getting expelled for writing a hit list (I didn't know how else to defend myself at the time), I spent a few years in a deep, suicidal depression. I had tried to commit suicide the night I wrote the hit list and posted it on the internet on a website for all to see, but it failed. One night after everything was over and I was still depressed, I was lying on my bed with a pair of scissors within reach. I remember staring at the ceiling and thinking if I didn't get it over with now, I wouldn't. I reached for the scissors and instead felt the fur of my cat, Thomas. I had adopted him soon after being expelled from school, and he had decided to plop right down on the pair of scissors. It reminded me I was still needed here, and there were still beings that loved me regardless of what had happened. Even though it was not a direct saving of my life, if he hadn't been there on top of the scissors, I would not be here today. Long story, but it is mine. Anyone have any others?

I love animals specially dogs. I have seen a lot of movies where dogs have saved people from houses on fire, complete demolished buildings, from bomb blasts to happen and many more. Its true. They do it. They r really above human beings in their acts i would say. I render my sincere thanks to thomas the cat, who saved u. He is a real hero of ur life. Fotunately i ahve never faced any problems where my life is in danger. But when ever i am on the roads the dogs (street dogs) are around me for my security and safety. Can u immagine them sitting all day and night near my house just to meet me everyday and all for a small pat on their head. I love them all and specially thomas too now because he saved ur life. U r definitely needed specially in my life as a friend. U know i am broken. Its for u all that i am able to smile now.

I am very grateful that I've been able to make you at least a bit happier over your situation. :) Yes, there have been so many things I've been able to accomplish because I'm still alive. Life is full of opportunities and not yet fulfilled promises of happiness. It just took Thomas to tell me that I was still needed here for me to realize it. Animals are amazing and beautiful creatures. I agree with you...they always do things to help us even if they have no benefit, just because they love being generous. I don't know many people like that! I have also heard of dogs waking their humans up when a fire breaks out to save them just in time...cats urging their humans out of the house because of carbon monoxide poisoning...I've even heard of caged birds making noise to wake up people for some of the same reasons. I bet those dogs near your home love when you come home...they probably live to see you and others near you come home because they just love unconditionally. Even though you haven't taken them in your house, I think they would protect you if something were to threaten you. :)
