Editing discussions

Am I the only person that would appreciate the chance to edit a discussion after being posted? I just responded twice in the same discussion because I clicked somewhere without noticing. I wish I could, if not delete, at least modify the second post, but since we can't edit, there is nothing I can do. I belong to forums where I have the opportunity to edit a post, and I wish I was able to do so in here too. What about you?

I think mylot should so something to allow us edit our discussions at least for five minutes after posting. Hope they would do soon.

Five minute limit, not a bad idea.

I think it would be really nice. Not sure if they will ever do it, though :)

Yes, I definitely wish I could edit a discussion I posted. I like that Gather lets me do that. The edit feature would be great to have, but I guess each site is different and that's what makes me like them. About posting twice, I hit the report button and ask mylot to delete my second response. And if I can't report it myself, I respond under the second repeat answer and ask someone else to do it. And they usually do. By the way, are you on Gather? If so, I'd love to add you as a friend.

You earn points for money or gift cards. It took me a while to even know what I was doing, and still I'm not an expert. Several mylotters are Gather members. I don't try to pick up referrals, but if it still is how it was when I signed up, you can get more points for recruiting referrals. (Please no one post a referral link, I don't want this discussion to get deleted.) Anyway, you start discussions, you answer others...I don't like it as much as I like mylot. It seems I get to know people much easier on mylot. Anyway, over there you can post stuff like recipes, or talk about other money making sites. In fact, some people post stuff that I have no clue what they want me to say about it. You can also control if others are allowed to rate your posts or not.

I see. It sounds like it can be another option to make a bit pocket money. I am a bit on the busy side now - hubby's aunt has family over from back home and needs me to show them around the city - but I'll take a look and if I think I can do it, I will pm you. Thanks for explaining.

I had never thought about that solution. I'm glad I posted the discussion, because now I have a better idea of something else I can do that will work. I am not on gather - actually I am not sure of what it is.What is it?

You're not the only one arkaf. I too wish that we could edit our posts. As it is I just forgot a word that I would have liked to have added in a response that I had made to you in a previous discussion. I could have done so if we had an edit feature. But alas, that isn't the case. Shoot, I even proofed it a few times, but missed it with my tired eyes. Here we are allowed to copy and paste after reaching a certain amount of posts, yet mylot refuses to do the same when it comes to an edit feature. Oh well, what can we do about it, other than be more careful before hitting the submit button? We could always suggest it (like that hasn't already been done), but I can already hear admin saying something about how it would screw up the earnings system, we should be more careful, blah, blah, blah. Well, what the hell, you could always give it a shot anyway. Write to mylot and see what they say. You never know, they might just go for it if enough people want it. Just be sure to send them the link to this discussion for added emphasis. Good luck!

I'm sure they will find a zillion reasons not to implement the editing. I know that I could/should be more careful, but the truth is that my fingers seem to have a mind of their own. Once I type the last word they immediately go for the post comment button LOL

yes it would be really nice. Too often I type a post, proofread it and then as I'm hitting the post button, that's when I see the error.

I would also prefer an editing option to correct my typos or spelling errors. The cooling off period of 10-15 minutes is a really good idea. I hope the admin looks into this matter and something like this is implemented soon :D

I wouldn't even mind if it was only 2 or 3 minutes, as long as I could do it. But doubt it will be implemented. Oh well.....

You are not! I'm sure many of us would like to edit conversations. The presumed argument against allowing us to do that would be 1) if myLot pays even a little penny for something that was submitted then they understandably don't want us to have the power to remove it (but they could have a short chilling out period, say 15 minutes during which time we could correct mistakes, couldn't they, hint, hint...), and 2) many people are submitting comments from all over at the same time, and if we make a mistake but someone replies to it while we are saying, oops, and then we change our answer, I suppose the other person's reply might not make sense and then they would be inconvenienced...maybe. So I think our comments are sort of going to remain etched in stone. I'm sure we have both seen some made here that will surely come back to haunt the writer.

Yes, I understand the cons. Short time for correcting mistakes would do. And for comments, maybe if the discussions couldn't be responded to or commented during that period? Make it 2 minutes, and no responses allowed during that time. That could work.

I guess that it would be a very good idea. Sometimes you make mistakes when posting and wish you could go back and fix it up, without actually making a comment under your post writing down what your mistake was. I think you should be able to edit your posts if you wish too. This idea has always been popping up by many many users and I am pretty sure that the mylot team have thought about it, but are just not upto doing it. What if it affects the earning system? You can wite a long post then edit and only write a sentence. Like copy and paste a paragraph from somewhere else so it looks quality, then quickly edit and put your own sentence in so you still got the earning for the "quality" post you did, if that makes sense.

Yes the only problem I can see is it affecting the earning system, but I am sure it wouldn't be that complicated to adjust to that and create some sort of a solution.

I would like to have that capability here in MyLot to be able to edit a few of my discussions but without it though, it makes me proof read my responses to make sure everything is okay. For me, I think the creator of MyLot has reasons to why they made it the way it is. Actually proof reading makes me do better in writing to make sure it gets credited daily.

There are always reasons for everything. But things that make our use of this place easier can be considered. Is it a big deal? Not exactly, but would be nice :)

Don't worry friend. You are not alone. There are also times where I need to edit my posts but since we do not have the ability to do so, I can do nothing. That is why as much as possible, I take extra precautions in posting. :)

That would be a good thing to be able to edit your posts. Maybe the administrators will pay attention and try to add this feature soon.

I have seen several things I would like to edit just about the time I hit post! I have wondered why we can't edit our own posts, but it would be pretty difficult to set up I would think. I suppose I will just need to slow down and preview the response!

the thing is that it wouldnt' have to be that difficult to setup. Just needed to be discussed and the best option would need to be found and implemented. I always tell myself I will slow down and preview but the truth is , I never do:)
