I would like to hear from people that might have tried or are currently refining scrap gold for a side business.

I've been doing gold waste business before but now no more since I am already living in urban city. I don't know what you mean about refining scrap gold..I haven't tried it...

Basically you chemically withdrawl the gold from computer part, scrap jewlery, and basically anything else that have any gold in it. You then make the gold drop out of the chemical mixture and refine it into a gold button\bar.

Actually where I found the money to be was in selling computer scrap to people who refine gold. I did it on ebay for a while. there is no shortage of people willing to buy it there. the biggest selling thing seems to be old processors. I saw a 16 pound lot of old pentum pro processors go for over 900 bucks. Ilooked in to the process for refining the gold off these items and it looked pretty complex and to be an expensive initial investment, so I instead decided I would just collect scrap and sell it as is to people who were already refining it.

Humm interesting twist. Did not stop selling you scraps or do you still do this. I am just starting and yes it is very hard to get the gold. It is more of a hobby right now for me, as I have not made any money and have spent a lot getting the gold that I have. I was just trying to find a few people that might have some tips/tricks to speed things up or that might have an easy way of doing it. Bryan
