Answer is B: seductive There are two clues: 1. "..researchers have been known never to publish" 2. "..they cannot bear to bring their studies to an end" The first phrase indicates that the public knows for a long time up till now (use of present perfect) that researchers do not publish the information. The second phrase shows the reason. The reason researchers do not publish is they do not wish to end their studies; they'd feel sad if they did (cannot bear). Here, it shows that there must be something really interesting about the information that researchers do not want to end their studies. Look at it this way. If you see a seductive girl, would you take your eyes off her? Would you want to end it? The GRE question requires lots of logic. So, my final answer is: SEDUCTIVE (B) Does anybody want to explain why it is not "A: divisive"?
