Would you like to have a discussion that's not about the weather?

Skimming over threads looking for the one to answer that doesn't bore you silly. How often do you have uninteresting conversations with your friends, your parents, your neighbors? Be honest, what would you rather be talking about?

Hi, tetchie! I avoid uninteresting discussions if at all possible. There are so many interesting things in the world to discuss, including the nature of discussions. Frankly, weather can be very interesting to some people -- they have the ratings of the Weather Channel on TV going through the roof. I think looking out the window to be all I need to know about the weather unless there's a hurricane coming or something. Each has interests...

lol. I guess hurricane warnings would come in handy. I find it difficult to stay around family for too long, some of them anyway, because the subject matter is pretty limited!!

I can empathise with that. I no longer respond to some family topics - it only feeds the monster.

Honestly, I never indulge in uninteresting conversations especially here on myLot. I skip the Posts on myLot earnings, and "have you made payout this month?" I love a good debate, even to the point of taking the losing side. Humor makes the medicine go down, and farce can sometimes make a point. Keep it light and stay away from Politics. I love a deeply religious discussion, but only if it does not challenge the beliefs of the Poster. There are many interesting topics seldom used, and countless worn, unthinking, inept, boring themes, foisted upon hapless myLot members every day.

I totally agree with you. Though I've jumped in the deep end with some religious forums. I've tread where angels dare not, but in the name of strengthening character. I love a good conversation that stretches the mind.

Not too bad BH. It's winter so I'm doing a bit of hibernating and the protective coat is a bit thicker! Guess you're in Canada and not Texas at the moment?

I am lousy at smalltalk, and all the people who know me well enough know, and those who do not already know this will learn fast enough. LOL When I come back from the coffee shop there are usually a couple of neighbours (always the same two) sitting there. They've gotten to know my routine, and will usually ask me how things are going at the coffee shop. LOL :)

I sometimes think I'm socially inept. But it's not true, I just don't enjoy small talk and would rather engage in something more meaty. Thankfully I have a few friends, one in particular who, when we go out to lunch, regret ordering a hot meal because it's cold by the time we get down to eating it. We must remember to order the caesar salad more often.

Hi, here there are a lot of discussions which may be the same but then there are interesting ones too. Well with my parents the conversation is always the same but with friends and my boyfriend I have some interesting discussions and we talk about everything from news to entertainment, food and what interests us most. Have a nice day!
