I was sitting here thinking about fears, and was wondering if anyone on here has an irational fear? and if so how do you deal with it? do people tease you about it or are they understanding?
I do and I know it is an irational fear but I can't help it. my fear is that when I sleep in my bed after my husband goes to work that something bad will happen. I have had this fear for years and usually if I am still tired when he leaves for work I sleep on the couch..but 2 years ago when he was at work I was watching TV in bed and I fell asleep 20 minutes later I get a call that my little sister had been shot and did not make it :(..so now I am more fearful then ever :(

Under those conditions I wouldn't say your fear was entirely irrational. I fear that someday all my doctors will tell me I'm well, that the medical tests indicate I'm fine, but I'll still feel as badly as I do now. I just fear one day they'll say there is nothing wrong with you, and I'll still have the same symptpoms and pain.

Hi, Ruby_Dawn. I am so sorry to hear this about your sister.
Is your sister still alive? It seems like your irrational fears came into perspective here. I have a fear, and it is about keeping all of my room doors locked and closed at night in the house. We have a bolt lock on the door now. Earlier this year, our four year old daughter, left the apartment with her coat on. Apparently, she was looking for me. I had went to walk to the school to take her brother to school one morning. So, now, we have an lock on our bedroom door, to keep her from waking up and going out. She won't leave the apartment if she sees me or her father there. She will stay. But we got the lock, just in case.

talk about reinforcing your fears....
I have a phobia about grills or grates on the ground. I don't walk on them if I can avoid them, and I generally can... I also avoid driving over them too.
the time I had to walk across one and was in shock afterward...

Yeah I know right :(
I dont think I have ever been to a place that had grills or grates on the ground, but I dont think I would be too comfortable walking over them my self,I have seen them on TV and I think they are a bit creepy
