Hi All,
Cow which provides us milk, meat and proteins do come at very expensive for our environment. My friends says that cow farts contains methane gas, which is considered to be greatest threat to the climate, forest and wildlife. And also that gas causes global warming. Is all these factors are true?

Hello, and welcome to Mylot. As it happens, I know quite a bit about methane, as I fart quite a lot myself, and my husband say's I'm a one woman threat to the environment!
I actually have a book about farting which someone bought me as a present. Farts contain 5 gasses - Nitrogen, Hydrogen, Carbon Dioxide, Methane and Oxygen. Methane is produced by the decomposition of organic matter, so anything that rots in the fields is producing methane, not just flatulent cows and people. Cow farts may smell toxic, though, as it's like a human fart only magnified, as cows are total vegetarians and much bigger than humans.
Methane is only a real threat if you try to light it, as it's highly inflammable and could cause a forest fire. So, however tempting it may be, never try to light a cow's fart - or anyone else's, for that matter!
