What do you think about America being in control of the Internet?

Currently ICANN (The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) a Californian Non-Profit Corporation, direct traffic on the web, and have been doing so for seven years. However, recently at the 'World Summit on the Information Society' in Tunisia, several countries, including Brazil, Cuba, Iran, and Zimbabwe, appealed to the United Nations to take over control. You might be thinking 'I'm not bothered, nothing will happen', but, at this point in time, the U.S government could, without anything/anyone stopping them, take over ICANN. The biggest fear being, an America with unilateral foreign policy, will eventually become an America with a unilateral Internet policy. If this did happen, they could block _all_ Internet traffic to _any_ nation they wished. While no one, not even their allies, trusts the United States to maintain its hands-off policy. The idea of a bloated, scandal-ridden United Nations administering the Internets core functions doesn't enthuse me one bit. I feel ICANN should consist of members from _all_ countries, and should be protected from _all_ international governments policies', in whichever country it may reside. Whoever controls it, should remain neutral. What do you think?

each country should control their own numbering system that way we are not giving usa control of the world (even though usa wants total domination in everything in the world) we have to stop usa somewhere and get our freedom back icann is non-profit? they make billions of dollars every day on a non-physical thing!
