Puppy whining

Hi everyone! We have a Boxer puppy, almost a year old, and he whines about anything and everything. Someone told us to first try to find out why and if it is not because he needs something like going to the bathroom, hungry, thirsty, or make sure he doesn't feel warm or is feeling sick. Once we figure out that it is just whining, they said to ignore him and he would stop. This is not working. He whines for his toys if they are where he can't reach them, I get them for him, he whines because I am in his way, he whines about everything. It can be quite distracting, especially when I am trying to do my studies or freelance writing. Any other ideas? Thanks for any help! Have a wonderful day!

Since he is still a puppy he could just be whining because he just wants to be near you. I have heard that boxers can suffer from anxiety. Maybe he just needs more attention.

Hi Shar19! I apologize for not getting back to this. I kept losing internet and figured no one wrote here. You did, though! Thank you! I do believe he has anxiety, and separation anxiety, so I have, slowly, began to leave his side, a little at a time, and help him to adjust to me being out of his site. He is 14 months old now and whines even more, over anything. We have done the figuring out why he is whining and ruling out if he has to go out and potty, or if he is hungry or thirsty, etc, and once those are all ruled out, which are usually taken care of anyhow, we play with him and let him run and play and he gets tuckered out, etc. He does prefer to be stuck up my you know what, ha ha. Thanks for your post! I hope your day is great! Mary-Anne
