Good Cop vs Bad Cop

Lately I see more and more of bad cops, and less of the good once. It's a real shame, it wasn't like that before, people went to work as a police officer to help people, now they do to help themselves. My boyfriend's grandfather was a first class homicide detective and he is appalled by the police officers that he sees now. When he worked, police was a big part of the community they got to know people and tried to help, they would try to stop kids from making wrong choices by talking with the kids and the parents. So why is it that this is no longer this way? Why is it that now we have more and more police officers who abuse their power? A few weeks ago my boyfriend's sister was driving and she ran a yellow light. A police officer wanted to run a red light from the other side and almost ran into her. He pulled her over and wanted to give her a ticked for running a red light. She gave him her PBA card and he asked her to call the person who gave her the card, her grandfather. When she called, police officer made her tell her grandfather that she is stupid. Then he took the phone and told her grandfather that a police officer should have done a better job raising a granddaughter. A 30 year old good for nothing but giving tickets guy was telling a well respected first class homicide detective how to raise kids? The man was so shocked by the way this guy acted that he couldn't find anything to say. I wish they would've gotten the guys batch number, he would've gotten a hell. After all This old gentlemen was one of the best police officers in this county. He was even on 60 minutes show after he arrested 36 people and stoped a theft and drug reign. If only we had more man like my boyfriend's grandfather working in the police, this world would be much safer, but instead we have money grabbing, self absorbed once who drive over 100 miles an hour and run red lights. We have people who are friends with drug dealers and rapists protecting us (I know one police officer who has 3 best friends, drug dealer, convicted rapist and a security officer in college. Needless to say, he isn't liked by most) From acting police officers, I've met only 1 who is actually doing his best to make this world a better place. He was a good boy when he was little, he never drank and was always great to his family. How about you? Do you think police has gone downhill? Do you know more good cops or bad cops?

Hi! It seems that more and more officers become cops because they enjoy pushing people around. Playing power games over people must make insecure little egos feel a little better momentarily.

haha... yes. i always viewed it as power bringing out what person really is. when a good person gets the power, they do good things with it, bad people abuse it and get ever worse :) I love playing wit their egos though when they try to feel better at my expense :) like having two PBA cards from 2 different people in two different districts :) they hate to see those :D
