Why do some people don't want to have God in their lives?

I was surprise to see that there are so many non-believers of God on the internet. The most common are the Atheist that knows how to contradict the bible. They always say that God is full of promises but does not fulfill them. They love this quote: "Give a man a fish, and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he will eat for a lifetime. Give a man a religion, and he will die praying for a fish". Does it mean when man has a religion, he will suffer starvation? Or rather die of no God instead of dying of starvation? I would like to know what stopped them from believing in God. Are there bad effects to a person who follows and hopes for God? How can you differentiate the lives of those with God and those who hate God?

I think a lot of people have really open their minds beyond a god. In past times with many cultures there was beliefs of gods to either organize people or explain natural occurrences that they could not explain. Examples are Poseidon and how when he was angry there would be a earthquake or a horrible storm. For me, I have beliefs that there is a force out there. Either God or not have created the universe. Some people should not hate on religions but be respectful to others beliefs.

Why people don't have faith in Almighty God,depends on their thinking and their lives. As far as i have seen in my life most people do believe in god, and that's why they are able to lead their lives in this world.Every human in this world have problems, difficulties, tensions .. so on,which makes him lose faith in God.Even i saw most people saying that i believe in God,but actually some where in their heart they do believe God,and they may have a little hope that something good will happen to them. This is nothing but believing God and so they have the hope otherwise not. I think we can't differentiate people who believe God and who doesnot.Even the God says Do Good things and Good will follows in your life.If you are a good person and you dont have God in your life even then also God is with you internally.

hi zareenalot. you said god said do good things and good will follow. i think it's natural flow of life for non-believers and believers. but what about when we talk of salvation? will non-believers who do 'good' can enter the kingdom of God?

I have always believed that each and every one should respect the religious beliefs of others. I think we ALL believe in a God or creator,we just have different ways of expressing how we follow it. For those without God or Atheists, nothing is wrong with them, it's just that they were brought up not believing in a God. To each his own.

thanks jammyt. i also know good people who don't believe in a God who does same 'good' compared to those who believe in God. Are there differences when it comes to their way of thinking? what about personal guilt? fear of doing evil in secret? fear of karma?

hello there! i respect everybody's faith and belief here at mylot but all i can say for them is-- they're maybe so unhappy in their lives and they blame such occurrence to GOD -- someone who never cause pain to anyone because of His very loving nature..or else these people believe they are happy without God's presence in their lives but subconsciously, their lives are just hallow-- full of longings and emptiness. we all have been though in life, who else haven't but let us never forget that a Father in Heaven is always willing to embrace us with His unconditional love and never ending mercy. Praise God!

Hi stevelvis, after a long pause, ya? Well many men many minds. People have different notion on the existence or non existence of God. some just believe that even if God is not there some power is surely there. I myself feel that I am an atheist in the sense that I do not follow any religious dictates nor any ceremonies but somewhere in the core of my mind I feel there is a power. The modern age has made many a soul atheist for they know that there is nothing apparent thing like God.

Maybe it's the part of the Bible that states "not all who say LORD will enter the kingdom of Heaven" scares some people off. Or maybe they look at the world around them (all the corruption in politics and needless war) and their particular life situations (like being unemployed or in a bad relationship/marrage or whatever) and wonder what kind of loving and just God would allow the world to be as it is? Or maybe, just maybe they don't like the concept of getting up on a Sunday morning and actually physcially going to church (moreso when the NFL season starts up) and perhaps they are ignorant of Sunday night services or Wednesday night services. I USED TO have a bit of all three of those lines of thinking in my mind; pretty much up until the end of March of this year; when a local church was out doing outreach on Saturday night approached me and I had a revelation that perhaps I should get right with God for burning in Hell would suck so very much. And so on that note I pray that all the souls out there who don't want to have God in their lives have a similar revelation I have had for I now KNOW for a fact that God is good and can work miracles which quite frankly cannot be explained with any other explanation other than it is God's doing.

I will not say that I dont believe in God, i just dont believe all the stories that are portrayed in the bible; to put it this way I believe in a higher power. "Does it mean when man has a religion, he will suffer starvation?" Not in a literal sense, but I can make out of that that some people who live for god so much and not more for themselves, starve themselves of life; I know and have met people who live for god. What has stopped people from believing in god? i am not of this population (because i do believe in something) but I would have to say its our current status in life. I'm not sure what its like in other countries, but here in America I would say that life is pretty sad right now and it has been for a while. Any human with common sense is aware that you can not have good times without bad ones, but when its an ongoing situation and your life becomes miserable (as it has for some people in these hard times) you really stop believing in anything. You begin to wonder if anything will ever get better and why has "your god" not made things better? why wont it cease? For others, even in these tragic situation, continue to lean on god as a little glimmer of hope that maybe tommorow or the next day it might get better. However, whether one believes in god or a higher power, or whatever you wish to call it or not, this is subject to change over time and with circumstance. Some people can go part of their lives or even their entire lives without believing and then at some point something life changing happens or they have en epiphany and people do a complete 360 in the religious aspect of their life. I say, believe in what you wont or dont believe, just make sure to believe in yourself :)
