The importance of a profile pic in myLot

Example of a good profile pic - Be outstanding in your profile pics.

Do you put up a picture in your profile? I find many myLotters not putting up any pictures in their profile. You don't necesarily need to put your picture in there. Just any picture will do. The more outstanding it is, the better. Why? As you can see, the number of myLotters are expanding by the seconds. As you are reading this discussion, the number increases again. So, to be SOMEBODY, to be NOTICED, you need to put up a profile pic. Otherwise, you'll be known by as another "Green Icon". When I look through my responses, what catches my eyes are the profile pics. Those pics are the one that will remain in my mind and make me be familiar to YOU. And that helps me pay more attention to YOUR discussions in the future. So, what are you waiting for? Go and load a profile picture now. Or do you have any other reason why not to do it? If yes, please tell me why we should not put up a picture in there.

This is so true... Having something there with your name besides the green guy icon does help people to get more familiar with a person and want to respond more to their discussions. Especially if it is someone requesting to be a friend so you can get more responses back from them as well. And since it is so easy to do as well, it makes you wonder why some stay so active here and never add one there as well.

So true, if they are reluctant to put their photos, they can opt to put any other pictures in here. Not necesarily need their face in it. I prefer to see pictures than that green icon thingy..

to me, the profile picture shows they you are taking mylot a bit more seriously because you have actually put some time and effort to upload one. plus, it seperates you from everyone else that has that exact icon.

I don't like the 'Green Man'..he is too plain to look at! I like pictures of other MyLotters more as it feels very close to know the person. If not themself, I like their pet next... Pets are so cute and not tiring to look at also...compared to the 'Green Man'!

LOL. It's nice you have preference when it comes to the avatar pic. For me, the more outstanding it is, the more I like it. But please, no obscene pics for me!

Though the avatar images are attracting the users, I will not respond on seeing the attractive avatar images. We can respond to the discussions only if we are familiar with the discussions and we can find the discussions of our interest with the help of the tabs available. I am completely unaware of the interest "ford" and you are having the attractive child image. For that am able to respond to your discussion if you start about the ford?

I dont mean that we are sure to respond to a discussion if you have an attractive avatar. But I do mean that it is a plus advantage to be remembered. And when people notice you and remember you, they'll definitely more prone to responding to you compared to other Green Icon.

Hi, Submerryn, I have started a discussions with subject 'what is your profile picture in Mylot. I asking that question but funny I have not yet upload my own profile pic. At first I really have no idea how to do that. After all, many mylotters give response and teach me how to upload a profile pic. I get to know the correct way to do that, but I am now still using the Green Icon . LOL I am too lazy to upload my profile pic. After reading this post, I know the importance of the profile pic. I am going to upload it now. Thank you for sharing .

i think putting up A picture is important just because i want to find my questions quicker when i'm in a spot to see what people answered. i also like pictures because i think its always fun to see the face of the person you have been talking to. and last but not least it makes you want to visit their page it catches your eye.

tiffany, i agree with you on it's always fun to see the face of the person you are responding too. But as you can see, my avatar is not the one of me. I just dont fancy putting up my face here or anywhere for that matter. :)

Good topic of discussion. I am feeling guilty already because I am still nobody, still green...lol. By the way, I need to think what kind of photo to put up that best suit my character, that is catchy and fun, that people will say "Wow, I like it!" or will fall in love at first sight.. and be my friend and live happily ever after ...lol.

Anandhh, I appreciate your frank and honest opinion. But in my opinion, you have a NICE avatar pic! It sure stands out and people will definitely remember YOU. So, the next time you put out a discussion, it will stand a little bit above others so you are at an advantage there. That is, after all, my opinion. Happy myLotting too! You'll definitely see ME in your next discussion.

The profile picture is as important as the username. I always put up my picture, so my friends can notice and recognize me easily. I think it is a good and helpful thing to have a profile picture.

Good idea and so true, but then picture doesn't catch my eye, it's what people's write or respond. I would upload pictures but I'm new so I don't really know much how everything works. I'd probably put something not personal (e.g. your example, ha-ha) as this place widely used by different people whom I may not know of.

That's exactly what I meant. You dont need to put a picture of you, just put some interesting pic, it is way better than that Green Icon. At least, when I see you and your cat, I know that you care enough about your account to at least put up a picture. Happy myLotting!
