Home made gnocchis gone wrong

When I was little, my mother made home made gnocchis. Once she had the dough rolled into narrow bands, she showed us 5 kids, aged 3 to 11, how to cut 1" piece with a fork and how to twist the fork so to make a form with each pieces. Then she cooked it. That has been a highlight of my childhood. Fo some reasons, I had totally forgotten this for most of my life as I tried to stay away from pasta because I love it too much. I used to eat pasta with reach meaty sauces till the day I realized I just couldn't digest them that easy and pounds (kilos) had set in. I'm a small person and that extra weight was very uncomfortable to carry around. But, in recent years, I just couldn't resist any longer. I indulged in gnocchis with pesto sauce. Lots of pesto sauce... And then, a flash... So, I proceeded to make gnocchis from scratch. Oh, boy! Should have seen my kitchen! And my hair. Don't remembered mother looking like that and certainly not the kitchen back then either. Anyway, once I put them in the boiling water, horror! They all disintagrated and became a horrible mush. Oh, well. Now, I buy them. Rarely but when I do, I eat like them like there is no tomorrow! When I do spaghetti, it's with a variation of veggies or herbs sauces. I don't do the meat sauces. Same with pizzas. I'm not a vegetarian but I'm not a red meat person. I eat beef rarely. When I do meats, it's with veggies and/or salads. When I do french fries, it's with veggies, no meats. In other words, I do not eat heavy carbs mixed with meat. Easier to digest and the weight doesn't add up that fast and hard. Hurray

I also love gnocchi, although I don't think I'd ever attempt to make it. My mom certainly never made any pasta from scratch, and I'm scared to try it myself, especially when packages of pasta are relatively cheap. :) Now I'm hungry! *LOL*
