hi antique lady, yeah, not all modern food preparation could results in a satisfaction as some food is better of cook the old ways. Thus, some retain the traditional method of cooking without the benefits of the modern cookery equipment all food could still taste naturally palatable without the added ingredients which could likely spoiled the original taste if mix with other modern recipes cooke in a modern ways. thanks.

I first started getting into heavy duty cooking over thirty years ago, and started by self-teaching myself French style cooking. Then as now, I've never used the conveniences of any appliances to prepare food faster. If I made cake batter it would be the old-fashioned way by blending with a wooden spoon or whisk, so no mixer. When I made homemade breads it truly was homemade and no bread mixer. I chop foods by hand, so no blender or food processor. I realize it would be easier to have these convenience type appliances but enjoyed preparing foods by hand

It is mean that you have done all of this stuff by labor of love without relying on the latest kitchen equipment and utensils. I do appreciate homemade baking and you really have total control of the flavor that it is really unique with your own blend, unlike in commercial baking products caters to the general taste of the consumer. You could make it more special and you are really ensure the ingredients being used by you is meticulously of your own choice and likeness..You could even add sort of topping which is not similar to other commercial products. Also the amounts of cakes or baking goodies you have to make caters to be serve only to your loved ones and even could be proud to even share it to your friends and even to pye..

That is the convenience of doing your market in shopping mall and even in open and wet market. They really have a freezer where instant or ready cook meal is being display and you just have to pick the food item which you like. You just have to heat in some instant food the sachet or the pouch pack..and presto! you have delicious meals. It really saves your time and do not even need to cook just add boil water to heat it. Their are also can good and other dried stuff where their is a need for longer cooking. But, I never really into instant food, i still prefer cooking my food the natural way. All the ingredients are fresh, ranging from meats, fishes, veggies and fruits. i see to it that its the picking season, i store some and the other I do myself the preserving fruits.

Almost everyday I cook dinner. Sometimes breakfast and lunches. I recently moved in with my partner last year in June. I am very new to cooking on my own. I had my mother do it, and I am only 17 as well. But thankfully as a child I would spend summers and winters at my grandmothers house. We would bake and cook a lot of great very exquisite meals. I loved learning to cook as she loved teaching me her skills she learned from her Mother. But as I grew up we grew apart. Well I have forgotten a lot of what I have learned. So I had to go back in the back of my mind and find what I had learned in the past. Today I prepare meals according to the item I am preparing. I do not use microwaves. I would encourage everyone to quit using them also. It's a nuclear blast cooking meals. That's why they call it the nuker. I wouldn't eat anything after a nuke blast, I am certain you wouldn't either! :P But getting to the point. Sorry, I prepare my own meals by scratch when i cook. But I use electric beaters in the day time and if it's getting late in the night and i want to cook I would go Old School by using a wisk, spoon or fork. I love Barbequing, specially right now. Fire is a very old way to cook so many actually today still use this method! Have a wonderful day!

It is a good point to learn to cook independent from your parents and getting a partner can sometimes be a tedious having to cook and prepare food not only for yourself but for him as well. It is good things to know few cooking as we could no longer depend on meals being bought in a nearest fast food or restaurant. Such as in a wee hours or for midnight snack, or trying to warm up with a soup during winter and cold days. it is a wonderful feelings knowing that cooking is best done not only in a modern kitchen but back to simple cooking. I do not use microwave as the electric in my country cost high, i rather cook from a liquefied petroleum cooking burner. I am a fan too of older version of preparing food such as doing barbecue in charcoal and slow method of cooking. The food really taste good and slow cooking make the food tender and all the marinating ingredients really goes into the meat that it really taste good. with the high cost of fuel , my family also cook in a charcoal oven as alternatives..thanks

Yes, your are definitely right. There are a lot of innovations on the way we cook this days. Many equipments for us to use. This has certainly improve the time of cooking. But I have also noticed that there are certain foods that are better cook in the old way. Somehow using some of these modern equipments affect the taste. But well, this is the new trend and life has been so busy so and so that many people tend to be on the fast food lane.

Their are really food which is best to cook the old ways like grilling in a barbecue grill rather than in the oven, if you like having a smoky flavor from the special woods which been mixed with the charcoal. The method of crude of cooking and slow preparation like the good old days are better if you are not in a hurry to eat and you really the flavor and all marinated ingredients really capture all the flavors as slow cooking makes the meat tender and the flavor soaked in the food that we cook. For practicality now days, modern kitchen equipment makes cooking not a hard task anymore. In an instant you just heat instant foo, and presto you have meal like you eat in a restaurant. especially, if you have children who go to schools you cook fast and your family never have to wait longer to savor your delicious meals. Cooking and food preparation are really more convenient in line with the fast lives now days.

Hello neelianoscet, I must be of the old school as still prepare meals from scratch and bake my own cakes. I don't cut corners and purchase ready meals and at the moment have no microwave for faster cooking. One thing I do cut corners on though is buying a pack of frozen pitta breads which only require a quick addition of salt and olive oil before going into a hot oven. We often have them alongside a salad in the evenings or with a tapenade dip. I wouldn't prepare them if I had to make the dough and roll them out so I appreciate the ease of buying these.

It really saves a lot of time to buy a ready dough and pitta bread as you can make your own desired flavor to your baking. Aside, from it, you are insure that the bread is freshly baked right here in your oven and what make it more special you really put labor of love in it.

Hello neelianoscet this is checkmail and like to cook a lot myself, totally myself. Well i have improved a lot in preparing my meals from my past mistakes done.Normally i used to cook mostly by watching it or by following instructions from receipe book and always had some mistakes done in it.But now I use mine own recipies so there is no mistakes in the preparation of food. The most important tip for preparing food is use less salt while preparation as it can be added afterwards as needed.Happy cooking to all.

yeah, too much could lead your food taste salty and hard to adjust the flavor even if you add water or sugar, the salty flavor is already absorb by the ingredients while cooking and very hard to adjust..Everyone one is not really start as a pro cook but when we have the desire to try and even we commit mistakes in cooking will be an expert after all trial and error. Even, not looking at recipes cook list you could memorize all stuff of recipes and create your own flavor different from the cookbook. Such as when you add different ingredients or innovate some styles like what a culinary chef do..
