I cannot put a good book down!

Have you ever read a book and started to enjoy it that much that you simply cannot put it down? I work on the phones and tend to read a book in between calls coming through to pass the time and I got so into my book that the other day I was getting really annoyed that I was even getting calls coming through and interupting my reading! lol Do you ever get so into a book you cannot stop reading?

Totally! I have been known to happily stay up all night if the book is good. Just one more chapter..... What book were you reading at work?

Ok, I admit it I am a sucker for the Harry Potter novels and once I start reading them I just can't put them down, I have read them over and over again and never get tired of reading them, I am re-reading book 6 again before I go and see the film in a few weeks just to refresh my memory, I found The Half Blood Prince tough going and I want to be able to enjoy the film. I used to work in a call centre and I used to do crosswords whilst I waited for calls to come through.

Yes sometimes I do puzzles too but, I like reading more as I like to take my book out in the garden on my break to read (I work at home rather than the call centre)and sit in the sunshine with my sandwich and book! x

To be honest, I'm not really fond of reading books. I prefer reading magazines about music, jokes, horror, etc. I opened this discussion out of curiosity. "I cannot put a good book down!" - I don't know if you really mean it or just an expression. But please share the title (and the author) of that book. I'll try to check it out to see how good it is.

It is an expresion - when you love any book so much and you have started reading and find yourself totally absored in it that you simply want to carry on reading until the very end without stopping! x

Yes, I have one particular autor that has this effect on me! I will look up and realize that a couple hours have passed or that it is like 2:30 in the morning! I just have to read it through though!

I know exactly what you mean! With some books, you just know that it's going to be great, and unforgettable. Regardless of the time or the place, I just can't stop reading. I have to know what happens, what comes next, and how the story will end. One such example was a book by Richard Bach - I'm sorry i can't remember the name - but, in the book, he draws a compariosn between love, music and chess. I read through the night, bunked college the next day, and did not stop till I found out whether the music lover and the potential chess player finally decided to "take the plunge" or not! The topic of this discussion reminded me of that day, that book, that story, and what a great time that was!

It isn't uncommon for me to finish a good book in a night or too. I don't mind the lack of sleep because get so caught up in the story line it's hard to put it down. I like to read without interruptions so night time - after all the kids are in bed is best.

All of the Harry Potter books were like this for me. I waited in line for the final book and rushed home to read it before it was spoiled. I wouldn't eat or sleep because I waited to finish it so badly. I amreally glad to see that they have made movies to give you a picture for all the characters.
