Which is better a lie that draws a smile, or the truth that draws a tear?

hi friend, if it is painful to others it is better not to spell the truth,you are right, i do not wish to give pain to others,but some time due to emotion i have to do,but then i will tell excuse for the thing...have a nice day

I can understand lying to get a smile, but I think in the long run it comes back to bite you. I am of the opinion that you should always be truthful. If it is a hurtful truth, then you can tell it as gently as possible... if possible.

I personally believe that it depends on the severity and magnitude of the situation. If it is something of little consequence, there is really no need to hurt someone's feelings - for example, if someone cooked you a meal and you didn't particularly like it, there's no need to say that you didn't and upset them unnecessarily. However, when it comes to important matters, the truth is necessary no matter how much it might hurt.

If you're spiritual, you know that lying is something that God forbids. I'm not someone who will insist that I never lied my whole life. There are times when you can't help but blurt out something that isn't true. But for the sake of this discussion, I'd honestly say that I would choose the truth that draws a tear. In situations where emotional distress is at stake, I don't want to cause something which I may be guilty of, knowing that a certain person found out the truth in the end regardless of how enticing your lie is.

I would rather know the truth no matter how bad it hurts.

I would rather be told the truth, because in the end it will come out and I would be more annoyed at the person to lied to me about it than I would be at them if they had just done something to upset me but was honest about it. My ex-boyfriend kissed another girl and didn't tell me for 6 months in case I broke up with him. I broke up with him not because he had kissed a girl because it was obvious he regretted it but because he didn't have the guts to tell me straight away.

Really nice question that i have been thinking this days. But its not that simple. to tell the truth that will break down someone have to be done by a way. not just tell smth and brake him completely down. By saying it via a way that will take him less down . I dont think much people would preffered to be lied by others just to feel happy.

everybody lies. i think lying to your boss is ok but lying to your partner isn't. if he lied to me i'd be way more upset than if he said i got wasted and kissed somebody else at a party.

i would also want to know the truth rather than a lie,in whatever emotion it may cause the important thing is we have to face the truth and be ready to overcome it,.this is how tough person do and want.

better to tell the truth, the tears won't last forever though. While when you say a lie, all seems untrue, even it's for someone's smile, it won't last.

Truth is always best. Lies will eventually be revealed, and the longer you hold a lie, the worse it will hurt in the end. Better to simply say the truth to start with, that way you can move past the pain sooner.

We can not hide truth forever , telling a lie may make a person smile for sometime but when he/she will know the truth then situation will become wrost. In that way that person will cry and you will surely loose him/her. Happy mylotting!

I totally agree that I would rather hear the truth and be crying that's something I've always wanted. But then you know there are just some people who like to continously lead people on and lie then just be truthful with them. I've had people done both to me. Be completely honest with me and I was left in tears and then other times where people have led me on and lied to me and I eventually found out the truth. Sometimes its just better to be honest with someone then lie.

Better to slap me with the truth rather than give me a run around. It hurts more to know in the end that you were betrayed. Besides, reality bites, it's just a matter of staying productive even when it feels like your world is crushed into bits.

I would prefer my partner to tell me the truth if he wishes to call off the relationship. At least we can still remain as friends because we have a mutual agreement to call it of. If he lies to me by telling me that he still loves me but his actions reflect the opposite, it will hurts me very much and the love I have for him will turn to hatred one fine day.

truth really hurts, but it is better to know the truth than having a lie that would make me believe on something which in reality would hurt me the most..it would hurt if somebody tells you negatively, but would definitely hurt the most if somebody is making you believe that you possess all those positive things when in fact you don't..if somebody is telling you bout something, it's ok to believe but don't believe in it deeply, that's the worst thing, if you believe deeply and you found out later that all of it was a pure lie..
