love, loyalty, true friendship. I do believe that money can buy happiness to some extent though. The first three are needed to provide a basis for the happiness. I'd certainly be very happy with a few extra thousand....

That's right; at the end of the day, we also realize that what we thought was happiness was actually thrill or excitement, and not happiness.
Happiness is like a bank fixed deposit. You can draw on it in times of anguish, disappointment, or despair and continue with your life. As you said, loyalty and commitment to friends is another source of strength. It is this "strenght" which is actual "happiness" in life, not the things you buy with money, which are merely comforts and not happiness.
Alongside is a picture of an old, yet happy couple. Why do you think they seem happy???

sleep - you cannot buy sleep. when you have difficulty sleeping, no amount of money can give you a good night sleep without the aid of pills.
happiness - maybe you are very rich and the one you love does not love you back. what amount of money can bring the happiness brought about by love?
peace - of mind and soul. money can buy of a lot of things but these things can even contribute to stress.

True, you can't buy sleep, bingskee. I am a no-sleep-er at night as my mind becomes restless and unfettered at night. In fact, I am an acute and chronic insomniac.
Money can't also buy love, conviction and appreciation of "inner beauty".
Thanks for your thoughts.
