I am Legend 2 - prequel/sequel/resurrection

I am Legend - I am Legend - Will Smith
July 19, 2009 10:41am CST
So after the worldwide success of I am Legend they have decided to make a second. I say second as there are rumours to it being a prequel, filling in the gap between when the virus first struck and where we picked up the story in the first film. But there are also rumours that they don’t want to do this and somehow magic a follow up sequel. As Will Smith is part of the production team it is likely he’s going to star which means if it is a follow up they will have to come up with an excuse to explain why he wasn’t killed in the first as we all believed. So what would you prefer a sequel or a prequel? I’m for the prequel.

i think they should make the young kid the new actor have him followed up on same with his mom the kid will be older and get another famous actor he will oviously be white. they should do it like this they should have the kid help capture zombies and make them human again with the cure but the twist would be not all zombies can be cured and the zombies then get led to hunger and vencher out more and come across the base in maine and man kind will half to run or fight the horde of zombies from new york. The mom and the boy will half to take the cure some where and protect it from the zombies and maybe will have another dog in the movie also. im sur the fans would love to see another dog. matthew fauvel look me up on myspace, facebook

(shudder) The first one had a great story line, but it is not the type of movie I can see more than once. It really freaked me out actually! Especially the part where he's in the building and you don't know what's going to pop out of the darkness! Oh and that poor dog! I felt so terrible watching the dog fight scene. I'm not sure I can handle another movie like this. Like I said, it was good, but my husband refuses to watch it ever again, and I doubt he'd watch the sequel/prequel, and I never have time to watch a movie by myself unless it's family friendly!

In my opinion, 'I Am Legend' needs a prequel to fill in the blanks that were absent in the first film. I realize that the main character had a developed history as to what happened to his family, however the true essence of genesis of the outbreak was absent. The first film was after the major catastrophe/ occurrence which caused the whole series of events that took place in the film. Basically, the effects of such an outbreak were shown in the original film. That makes the movie powerful in the scope of such devastation and impact of the main character's independence, however it would help deepen the universe/ story when the whole story was told. Hopefully an encouraging decision will be made which will make the second film better, or as good as the first. It is great to hear that such a movie is getting a second chance to continue the idea of survival and independence. These genres of movies I find to be very inspiring, in the idealism that the characters are built in a more 3-Dimensional way. In essence, to me the characters in these survival type of movies have more depth to them other than that of adventure movies, or any other related genre. You can allow yourself to know an important/ pivotal individual instead of a spectrum of three or four less thought out people. I'm looking forward to seeing the outcome of this movie, now. Thanks for the heads-up.

Well, logically if the studio want a box office movie with Will Smith play the character again, they will make a prequel, but if they decide to make the sequel, I guess Will Smith will only go as a producer, unless they decided that Will Smith survive the fire and other irrational things happened lol. But I think if it is made as a sequel, the only that will happened to the movie is another action movie like terminator or Resident Evil, kill the zombies! Actually, they key attractiveness in I Am Legend is about how they captured Will Smith loneliness living alone in the city for almost first hour of the movie. If they decide to bombarded the sequel with action, it will yet another wasted sequel. So I vote for the prequel, it seems much more interesting storyline
