Stupid Car Dealer

I had a hard time believing what I was seeing and hearing. An automobile dealer in the western part of Missouri is trying to increase his sales by including an AK-47 assault weapon coupon with every car or truck sale. He stood in front of a reporters' camera and stated it was his new promotion to increase sales. He wouldn't actually give the buyer the AK-47 assault weapon, he would give them a coupon that he would pay for so the buyer could go to a gun dealer and use that coupon to obtain an AK-47 assault weapon. I guess you can purchase one of these at most any gun dealership. I wonder what a person can gain by owning one of the weapons? The dealer asked the reporter if they had ever fired one and at the same time made the statement that "they were a lot of fun to shoot". Before I was handed a gun to fire in the military service, on the firing range, It was impressed upon me by the range instructor that the weapons I would be firing were made to "K1ll the enemy during war time", (the enemy being the opposing soldier), NOT private citizens. I ask you, how do you feel about this situation? I personally think he should lose his dealership and be reprimanded by the Mayor and City Council where he is located.

Sounds like a very good marketing strategy to me. Why should you object? And if he's acting within the law, why should the local council stick their noses into his business? You're not seriously saying that you think that someone who's safe enough to drive a car is suddenly going to be dangerous just because he owns a rifle, are you?

I have to take issue with something here, we are NOT mexico or some banana republic. Also, the claim about 70% of the weapons being used by the mexican cartels comming from the U.S. are BOGUS, thats already been debunked. The weapons of choice are FULLY automatic weapons and RPG's, both of which are ilegal already to the general population here.

I don't know, sounds like a smart one to me, it's selling cars isn't it? The man is not breaking any state or federal laws, he is not violating any city ordinances. So, under what laws should he lose his dealer ship and be reprimanded? Incidentaly, any fire arms course or instruction should include the instruction that it is a deadly weapon and should be handled with the greatest care and respect......the same thing anyone getting their first driver's license should be told.

But I doubt it would be as easy as pulling a dealership over something like this.

I figured that this would get a response from you. I believe the company that build the product he sells can cancel his dealership. It happens....

It does not sound like a very smart thing to do. I think someone should stop it, although I don't know that that many people would take advantage.

Possibly you are right rob, there may not be many people that take advantage of the deal, but one more AK-47 put out on the streets is one too many.
