Don't you sometimes feel that mylot had been a venue for converting people?

I had wanted to have some intelligent discussions. The pros and cons to an issue sort of excites me. The viewpoints could sometimes get terrifying but that's a viewpoint anyway. Sometimes though, responses were placed with the intention to convert the reader to a particular belief or conviction. Then the discussion becomes lame. I am sorry but I do sense this somehow. Do you?

NO I don't believe that others are trying to convert anyone. The way I read most discussions is to gain knowledge of another persons Idea's, the way they percieve an idea or how they feel about different things. How to do different projects, different opinions on religious topics. Idea's on how to make money online, everyone has an opinion and is how it should be taken REGARDLESS how it reads.
The way each person reads the response and how it is taken personally is a choice for each of us. My choice is to gain more knowledge or give more knowledge to others. I do not try and convince anyone to think as I do. We are all individuals who has their own minds. I feel we each have a right to speak what we feel and respect others in the way the feel.

Quite true, everything that you had written. Thanks for a very objective explanation. Perhaps I was jolted by a word that insulted my belief, and a subsequent advice that does not pertain to me. Perhaps it was not even intentional on the part of the writer. It just came as some sort of attack to me. I would try my best to be more broadminded.

When I am in any forum, or program like this one, I do not take what is being said personally, even if the responder is trying to hit a nerve. It is my choice whether or not I want to feed into it or not. Take what is written as someone else's way of thinking. Does not mean I have to react, or agree, it is to me more knowledge in how people choose to represent themselves.
I hope you can look at it more this way, so that you can see the objective of what is being said even if it is a personal attack---you don't have to allow it to be taken that way. Move on to something else. Some People said to say feed on that kind of reaction.

When I posted the discussion, I was feeling foul. I shut down the computer and proceeded to do my daily tasks. I promised myself not to trifle with mylot again. It must be just a whole lot of crap. I am glad though that I checked and read your response. You had sent a message that put my perceptions into proper perspectives. Respecting others and making choices sum up what mylot is all about. The discussions are conversations and interactions of people. Each one matters. Each one can make a difference, like what you did for me in this post. Thank you.
