Has anyone started a vegetable garden? How is it going so far? My husband built 2 raised gardens for us in the spring. Here in the NE it's been quite rainy, but the plants are doing very well. I found a bug on a couple of the plants last week & a friend told me about cucumber beetles. Has anyone else been having beetle problems? If so, which beetles?

I dont have any cucumcumebers so the beetle problem is not one that I am encountering but i think there are people who do have trouble with various kinds of insects in their gardens. I think there are some detergent solutions that you can put the leaves and the rinse that is on the plants will keep away insects.

I have seen a few cucumber beetles, thanks for posting this as I wasn't sure what they were. The trouble maker I have an abundance of is the Japanese Beetle! The darn things eat the leaves of my roses & pole beans in addition are starting to work on my corn.

I haven't had any beetle problems yet. Actually I assumed it was because of the rain that mine are just now taking off since we have had a bit of a break from the rain. I got a zucchini yesterday (first one) and it was very good. I have cucumbers on but not quite big enough yet. Green beans are doing awesome. Corn has been our big problem. We have re-sown it twice and it's not looking promising!
