designer vs high street

i love the look of designer clothes you can see that they are good quality and they last longer than the high street stuff. However i could never afford designer things and i usually buy my clothes from tesco, new look or primark, which always have copies of the designer things and are so much cheaper, if you could afford designer would you only buy designer or buy high street too
