Is F.R.I.E.N.D.S the best sitcom ever about a few friends hanging out together??

I have been watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S since its incepton have been regularly watching the re-runs too and till date haven't yet got bored with it. That is one of the primary reason why I would like to know whether there are any such sitcoms, particularly about friends hanging out which might be on par or can even beat this wonderful sitcom? Watching this really removes all the stress or tension that I might have accumulated through the day unknowingly.

FRIENDS is kind of like the 1970's "Three's Company".. but with 6 friends instead of 3. Those three friends were hilarious! I think there is more laughable comedy in THree's Company than in Friends.. Friends is more blantant and social.. but then again.. 30 years difference.. times had changed. I'd almost still rather watch Three's COmpany if I am looking for lots of laughs, fun and silliness... just based on laughs, fun and silliness and not trying to make a point or insinuate social values to make laughter. Clear as mud, right?

yep, got it..:) Definitely will need to watch "Three's Company" so as to know the show which can topple Friends in terms of laughs and silliness. Thanks for the recommendation. But, though I haven't seen the show, I think "Three's Company" might be a bit old-fashioned and the same jokes that generated laughs 30 years back might not generate any laughter now?

Quote: think "Three's Company" might be a bit old-fashioned and the same jokes that generated laughs 30 years back might not generate any laughter now? Definately the times have changed the humor. Half the "humor" today is s*e*x related.. back then it wasn't. And times and attitudes and what is allowed on tv has changed in the past 30 years, so it will be different. but I just bought 2 seasons box sets and just laughed all the way through them! IT stars the late John Ritter who was absolutely hilarious - physically and verbally! That guy was just the best, right behine Jerry Lewis for his portrayal of comedy physically - all the little goofy things he'd do and so unepectedly! Also starred Suzanne Sommers as the ditzey blonde bimbo and Joyce DeWitt - the sensible one that kind of kept them all on the same page! Don Knotts was the landlord...he was hilarious too! I'd have to say... I've seen them both and I would choose Three's Company over Friends if comedy was what I was wanting.

I think so... I've been watching FRIENDS since I was little and years after the show reached its end. I still laugh my socks off with the reruns. I haven't encountered any show yet quite like it.

yeah, me too. Though there are other sitcoms which do generate laughs have their own USP, but I haven't found any show which makes me laugh as much as Friends can..:)

Yeah, it was a pretty good show. The characters all seem so appealingly. We used to watch it every night but now it is not on when we used to watch it so it is kind of not on our radar anymore. I sued to really enjoy it, I watched it when it was on and now I like it even better now that it is on in reruns.

I also like this show, I never watched it until it was reruns because I was at work while it was on. I started watching it a few years ago and couldn't hardly wait until the next day to see what was going to happen next. I think what made the show so interesting to me was the relationships that each of them had with one another and wanting to see who each one was going to end up with. The only other show that I can think of that is similar to this is Living Single, which I also enjoy watching.

Yes its one of the better for sure. It is just so funny and I just wish I had a group of friends like that to hang out with each and everyday. What a trip that would be.
