Getting ready for the Solar Eclipse???

Philippines
July 20, 2009 10:06pm CST
that's right the lunar eclipse might happen today in different time zones in the world. this is the moment where the Moon will come between earth and the sun. Scientist simply estates that this is simply a natural phenomena in astrology. to be honest i haven't seen any sort of eclipse in my are here. but there was a time where my people had seen a Dancing Sun, it was even shown in the news, ridiculous but true. But religious sects believed that there's a lot of impending danger that comes accross this particular eclipse. it was most stated in the India and Chinese Culture of warnings about a terrible event. some say it marks the coming of the end of the world. So, what ever religion do you have? even if your atheist, what is your main view or beliefs to this upcoming solar eclipse? is it good or bad... or something fantastic or annoying to see. I hope we get watch it together, what time would that be in your country???

I would like to see this but I doubt that I will. I really don't know what time the US is to see it but I know that it doesn't get dark here until about 10 p.m. I am usually in bed right after that due to getting up early. I hope that I can see it though. I don't think that it is a sign of anything now. However, I do know that the Bible talks of the sun being dark and the moon being like blood.

Did you see it? i think it's a lot better seeing it at night. unlike sunny day i had to wear glasses and at least cover my eyes to see it. but i didn't see it long because of the damn clouds passing. maybe it was just a interpretation of the people at that time. i guess the one who saw it had sore eyes.

Hi Letran! I don't know if we here in the USA are going to be able to see the Eclipse at all! I think that only China and India are going to be able to see the complete effects of this particular Eclipse! I do remember slightly when I was about 10 years old that there was a Lunar Eclipse and we were sent home early from school because we were told that it wasn't going to be safe for us to look directly at the sun passing over the moon, or whatever it was going to happen because it could burn our retinas? Like I said I was very young and scared! I do remember my mother closing all the blinds in the house and making me and my brother stay away from the windows and not dare look out!

Faiths, beliefs and so-called religions claims a lot of meaning for this. But this is scientifically based event,so nothing to worry about this. I am not against any religion or beliefs,i respect their views regarding this matter.I am a christian and i only believe in what the Holy Bible says. We can't changed anyone's opinion in one discussion,so let them be. Have a good day

That's right there's no fact in the religious beliefs, if there is such belief on the warnings of doom, then we would have been destroyed a long time. i respect their beliefs as well and an opinion is an opinion, we really can't change some one's head is the belief is too strong for them. nice to met you.great day

I always get fascinated with the solar systems, the stars and the planets, just about anything about it. However, I'm not that too much fond of solar eclipse, well maybe when I was younger.. I've seen comet once, and it was lovely! I don't have any beliefs of what should be doing on the day of the eclipse, but I guess it'll be interesting.. I guess I'd be looking at it when I get the time and chance but if not, it's alright.

I am fascinated too, but this is the first time I'm seeing an eclipse. wow did you wish for something when you saw the comet? i wish me had a large telescope far more visible than the hubble. if not then probably you great grand children will.

Are you sure we're gonna see it, base on your time duration it's only good for india, china and united states. does it mean we have almost the same time with china doesn't mean we can see simply because of our insane rainy weather that might spoil the fun.

am not sure. and with the weather forecast of this week, the rain won't be a lucky scenario tomorrow because we want to see the eclipse. well, i am hoping we can still see it. once in a black moon you know.. i would hate rain if he shows up tomorrow.

I hope we can get too see that tomorrow. because i never seen an eclipse before, it's really hard to see most specially in these rainy season. if it rains tomorrow that would be bad we won't see.

I don't think that i will see the solar eclipse as the sun has already set where I live. I am not a religious person, and I don't think that there is any impending doom with this. Just another act of nature. I think it is interesting however tht people think it could mean the end of the world. I guess we will find out in the morning when we all wake up!

Where are you located by the way? i agree that this is not a warning of doomsday date because this has been happening even before man before become evolve.it is part celestial phenomena similar to act of nature. some religious don't believe in it because we are still a younger race.

I didn't even know about it until today. I am assuming that it hasn't happened yet, and the sun has already set where I live, so I guess I won't see it. I don't think that there will be any impending doom however.

these are the duration time during solar eclipse; China CCT(7:58am - 1:12pm), Japan JST(8:58am - 2:12pm) and finally, US UST(7:58pm - 1:12am). i don't believe eclipse gives warning on doomsday date. it just a phenomenon..

I don't believe that there is any co-relations with solar eclipse with any religous matters or spirituality. It just a natural occurence that could just happen anytime. I remember when I was just about 5 years old (about 15 years ago)...we had a solar eclipse here in the Philippines...and it was fascinating being able to see the sun covered by the moon...you can actually see both the sun and moon in one place by using film strips or darkly tinted sunglasses...it would be great to witness that moment again...but they said that the next time it would happen wouldn't be anytime soon but be a long long long time from now...

well, those religious ones from before at least thousands of years ago, they did made a co-relation to this one, that was their beliefs.Wow, i was grade 5 back then, maybe i wasn't aware since i got so busy with school. i did just use shades but it was too bright to see.

I think it would be interesting to see. I've seen a couple. I have known people whose family believed in different things about them. One family said that a pregnant woman should not go outside during one. I have read about different religions and tribes who have rituals during this time. For me it is just the earth and sun or moon getting in each other's way.

Wow, guess this one isn't something that's excited to you anymore cause you have seen it so many times. i saw that article in the internet where in the India beliefs that a Pregnant should not go outside and should not at all cost give birth on that specific day. i agree it's just covering up the sun. no wonder it was too cold this morning.

I was not aware we were due for an eclipse. Lunar eclipses seem to happen often enough but I have not heard of a solar eclipse occurring for over 20 years! The last time I was a teenager and it was during the school day and it was a pretty big deal to everyone.
