How many number of hours we should sleep

Hi All, What is the minimum number of hours, one has to sleep everyday? I have heard some people saying that even if the number is less it has to be a sound sleep. Nothing else is necessary. But When I contacted a doctor for my lack of strength he asked me whether I am sleeping for at least 5 hours daily. I am working in an MNC where i may be asked to stay for 2 days even. And there may be only 3 hours sleep in 2 days. Is this very bad and shouldn't this continue??

Someone told me that sleeping 6 hours is enough and needed. I tried it, but I couldn't get used to it. Now I sleep 8-10 hours a day and I am happy. Happy myLotting

I am not a doctor but as per I know that a child below year five should sleep for 12 hrs in a day.For teenager it should be 7-8 hrs.And if you are working in any MNC where you feeling lack of time, you can reduce it upto 5.30-6hrs but not more than it untill it can harm your health. it is not neccessary that you should take long sleep but most important thing that how long you take soundful (valuable) sleep.And Never compromise with your sleep hour it increase effiency of your brain also.

Hi there, well as far as i know we should sleep atleast 8 hours in a day. This will help us to work again in the following day. I mean if you just sleep for less than 8 hours theres a tendency that we are not that strong the following day. I experienced this because i dont get enough sleep everyday. Sometimes i just sleep for about 6 hours or less because of my baby the following day i feel that i am stress. So i think proper sleep is really advisable and it should be atleast 8 hours, goodluck and happy mylotting.
