Let me be very frank and say that I am no saint. My question here is would you take a little stationary from your office for your personal use ? I do take a little now and then for my personal use, and I know its not right etc. etc. but even then I do. Am I one of the few who do it or am I one of the many who do it. Id really appreciate a frank reply, for sometimes my better judgement says no, and to put a full stop to it.

I do it and I am doing it more frequently nowadays because I am planning to quit the job where I am right now and there are things in abundance over there, even other staffs take some at home and when I join thatr work I was so afraid to take even a paper at home but now I have a punch even at my place.

I am a businessman and I can't answer this question as an office goer. But as a boss,I don't like people taking home office stationary for personal use.If I were an office goer,I won't do it either.Think for a second,if you were a boss of some company, will you appreciate this and find where you are.Cheers!

Agreed, but then mine is a MNC where people dont even know where millions of things in stationary disappear. I for one take a pen or a nearly finished glue stick, nothing beyond that. As a businessman, Im sure you will not like it, but as an employee, the chances are you might.

Even as an employee,I don't think I will be doing like that.At least that things are meant for office and I have no rights to take them home for my personal use.In some offices, they dispose some old things to the office staffs at a cheaper price.Trying out like that is acceptable for me.Cheers!

hi kethy! its been a long time.^^ i also take some little things from the office. like ballpoint pens, pencils, plastic covers, etc. yeah, its shameful because its already a form of corruption. and there's no excuse for that. but then, i don't use them for only personal use, i also use them in the office. so i guess i can call it borrowing. it happens a lot here in the office. not just borrowing, but outright taking. ^^;; oh well, it's already in the mentality of the people. it's hard to get rid of it.

Hiya bear, long time, no hear from you. Welcome back. Thank you , for now I feel I am not the only person who does this. I know its wrong for us, but the company wont even notice it, its sooooo rich. I too use it for office work too. Well, thanks anyway and keep in touch.

honestly and frankly - i do that... but usually i only take the item considered - recycle or 'going to the wastebin'.. i've taken home - used files, used colour paper, big clips.. we usually have a big cleanup day, where we 'identify' what things we no longer wish to keep, we empty our files from all the outdated documents, etc.. and we end with quite a number of things which we could use again, and some which we decide could go to the dustbin.. and normally these items are the ones i take home. why?.. like colour paper - i have schoolgoing kidz and most of the times they have 'school projects' or art project that needs just a little bit of colour paper - so, instead of having to buy a whole stack or packet of colour paper, i just give them the used ones.. we also have a lot of foreign staff, who leave after their contract is due.. and when they leave, they usually leave behind loads of personal stationery - these items also we normally ask if there are any takers - before we 'donate' them to the admin department safekeeping...

Thats nice to know that you all have a clean up day and allowed to take what is not needed. I guess all companies should do this. I'm sure the children must be benefitting from all this and it makes life a little easier for you. Thanks.

If it's got your company logo on it, be aware that someone would have proof to turn you in. When I was first dating my husband, I received a letter in the mail from a company. It turns out that it was a harassing letter from my old boyfriend. My husband actually called the company and told them that this guy had been using company stationery to harass me. The manager there sounded rather stern and I can only assume he got in trouble for it....... He left me alone after that, by the way! :)

Thanks for the concern. I usually take things like paper clips or a glue stick that is on its last legs or maybe a pen if mine is not working. Im really glad that ex of yours got what he deserved.

Guess most of us do take a little now and then, something negligible, which the company wont even notice. I too take some paper clips or a pen if mine is not working, never anything big.

Yes, envelopes, notebooks, a stapler, staples, loo rolls, I've used the office franking machine to post something I sold on Ebay, I got a taxi home and charged it to the office account...what else? Mind you, that was over 20 years working in many different offices! Most people I work with charge their cell phones at work too.
