I was not bothered by ants in my house until just recently. I went to a discount store, bought generic brand graham crackers for the kids smores for the weekend. They we in my cupboard for a day and they were filled with ants when I opened the box. I was mad and I looked in other open boxes of crackers I had and there were a few ants in them as well. These ants were not in the cracker box the day before, so I knew they came from the store. I returned them to the store and they gave my money back. I asked the young lady behind the counter to get someone to check the other boxes on their shelves too. Low and behold they were full of ants too. I guess I was right. I had to get rid of many things in my cupboard, scrub it down and added ant traps. No more ants! Thank goodness, they sure are pesky things and can get into even your closed boxes. I just wish that the store would reimburse me for all the lost product that I had to throw away. It wasn't really all that much but added up to at least $9. Now everything is in zip lock bags keeping fresh and ant free

Hey, Whoa, that isn't good. I know how it feels, but in summer time where we live, their are ants that somehow manage to get inside and they always go for the honey. We don't know why, maybe because it is rather sweet. Make sure you have a good day, God bless and Happy Lotting!!

Hi EliteUser, I would imagine the ants love the honey. I know I do! I have used many zip lock bags on all my opened food in my cabinet to keep the ants and the humidity out. I just never expected to get ants in the box from the store. Thank Goodness that it was just a one time event and only one product. Have a great day and thanks so much for responding to my discussion!

Ants are hard to get rid of when they get into your house.

Hi Lovetobeme, Thanks for your response. You are right, ants are hard to get rid of. Your best bet is to get rid of all the food in your house that has ants, then get an exterminator in there to spray. Putting down some traps is a way to keep them away in the future.

Oh no! I once bought a candy bar from a gas station, and when I opened it up there were ants crawling all over it! I took it back in and got my money back. Luckily I didn't get any ants in my house or car because I'd opened it right then and there at the gas station!

Hi Trickiwoo, That would have made me lose my appetite. I sure hope they rook that box of candy bars off their shelves too. Wonder if it came in with shipping. You can never tell where they come from or where they are going to be next. Thanks so much for your response and check your food before eating.

That really stinks that you got ants in your pantry from the store that you bought your food from. I guess there really isn't even a way to check your boxes before you leave the store to see if there are ants in it, but it is a good idea if you really could do that. Well hopefully no one got hurt from the ants or no bug bites along the way and those traps really do work i have used the inside traps before.

Hey Lolgirl, You never know what you will find when you open the box. As far as I saw there were no more ants in my kitchen. I am checking it daily just in case I missed one. Creepy, Creepy. No bites no harm, I saw the ants before using them for the smores. Thanks for your response!

OMG that would make me so mad. I moved into a house 3 years ago, and had no idea it was infested with ants. We tried everything we could think of but no matter what we did the buggers kept coming back. I mean we tried EVERYTHING! I moved out a year later, and made sure to bag everything I had in plastic garbage bags and left it all sitting outside for 2 weeks including the television. Thank god we didn't bring any of them with us to the new place but I tell you what for a whole 2 months after we moved I would always feel ants crawling on me ( that weren't there ) and had nightmares, it really was unsettling. I'm not talking about a few ants either, I mean that house had thousands of them! Never again will I move into a bug infested place! I'm glad you go your situation taken care of before it got bad.

Hi Olydove, Thanks so much for your response! WOW! I am so thankful that the ants were contained in the one box. I am not too sure what I would do if my house got infested. I know what you mean about having the feeling of them crawling on you and the nightmares. I was not at ease for a few days, I had to keep checking the other boxes and such in my cupboard. I put them all in plastic that day, but I still check. We are getting ready to move to a house we are buying in a few weeks. We had it inspected for repairs needed and for bugs. The inspector found a few traces of carpenter ants so we had the sellers bring in an exterminator. I was at the house for the 2nd time with the inspector and there are no more traces of insects and it has been 16 days. They had to replace some of the siding too. No more bugs for now but you know I will be having the exterminator there again. Thanks again and have a great day!
