Do people still Knit clothes anymore for their children or even get them off other people as a gift?

I never learned how to knit or anything. My grandmother used to all the time. I had her make my oldest daughter a blanket before she passed away. I have a lady that used to babysit me when I was younger and she just knitted booties, hat and a blanket for my youngest daughter that was just recently born. I think they are such heart felt gifts and very meaningful. To me they are more valuable then store bought items.

Yes, I knit a sweater, hat, mittens, scarf and a pair of socks for each of my kids each year. They get such a kick out of picking out colors and patterns for me to do.

No one in my family knows how to knit, but we have people the crochet and still give crocheted gifts. My mother in law gave crocheted booties to a family friend and we got a crocheted blanket for a wedding gift this year. ^_^

Oh, yes. My mother & mother-in-law still knit. My grandmother still crochets as much as she can since she is legally blind. My mother also does quilting. They are the best gifts & they last for a long time. I appreciate every piece that I receive for me &/or my family.
