My friends and i get together to hang out and party on occasion, but about once a year we enjoy throwing a "themed party" usually for one of our birthdays. The planning of these parties is usually left up to me, as i am the super-organized one in my group*l*, but everyone contributes ideas and helps to pull it all together. here are some of the more successful ones we have done.. Hawaiian Luau in the winter.. We cranked the heat up and all attended the party wearing beachwear. Decorated in tiki motiff, think coconuts, tiki torches, pineapples, watermelons, coconuts. Had a soundtrack of cheesy ukelele music playing in the background. Made an excellent vodka watermelon punch bowl, served fruity cocktails made with pineapple juice or coconut rum...and everything was surved with the little paper umbrellas and garnished with pinapples, oranges and cherries...and everyong who attended got "leid" that night lol Back to school party Everyone came dressed as their favorite school cliche....we had catholic school girls, football players (complete with the shoulder pads) nerds with their pants hiked up to their armpits and tape on their glasses, the jocks, the gangstahs...and i got to play the strict school teacher. Went to the dollar store and stocked up on decorations such as an alphabet strip to border the ceiling, attendance certificates for all who attended, gold star sheets, where people earned a gold star for each drink finished, a "lunch line" buffet of food consisting of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (with the crusts cut off) packaged in sandshich baggies, single serging sized ags of chips, pudding cups and juice boxes. Adult Slumber Party Everyone showed up in pj's, played games of spin the bottle and truth or dare (turned them into drinking games) Harry potter-palooza ok, so first off i have to admit i am a geek. For my 27th birthday i threw a Harry potter themed birthday party. People came dressed in costumes as their favorite harry potter characters. We had the harry potter movies playing as a marathon on the tv, served drinks such as "draught of the living death" punch, truth serum spritzers, bull frogs. We had a harry potter trivia competitiion and gave out various potter themed toys as prizes. Each room of the house was decorated in the colors of each of the hogwarts houses. Fo my next one i am thinking of doing a mxican fiesta. Has anyone else out there evr thrown a themed party? If so what themes have you used? Or if you have and kewl suggesteions that i can use in the future, please share!

I think a themed party is a cool idea. It has been a while since I was involved in throwing a party of any kind. This is something that I could suggest to my friends if they ever decide to have a party.

It is a lot of fun. You should definately try it! Especially if you have friends who are out going and willing to participate! If you do decide to throw a themed party, i would suggest hitting up a store such as the Dollar tree or something similar. They always have huge array of party suppolies and decorations, and little touches like that are what truley make the party feel festive! Asking people to come in costume is another way to give th party more life. Offer a prize for best costume (it doesn't have to be anything big, i can honestly say i have never spent more than a couple of dollars on any of the prizes i have given away at my parties), when there is a feeling of competition, people are more apt to participate.
