I really hate job hunting. I really hate job hunting when you have a bunch of other things on your plate that you have to worry about as well. It is stressful. It seems like no one is hiring or there are a ton of people applying for every job that is available. How do you deal with the stress of job hunting?

I have been unemployed for the last two months. I hate job hunting too especially when no one is hiring. It is really bad out there I have gotten to the point where I am about to stop looking and whatever happens happens. I have a college degree and cant find a job it is ridiculous.

I talked to a girl working at Krispy Kreme the other day who was stressing about having a degree and still not being able to find a job. Horrible.

I should say a job in the field that she went to school for. She at least has the Krispy Kreme job.

I know. It is terrible, we spend so much money on an education and we can not find jobs. Hopefully things start turning around soon.

I hate job hunting too! It's a pain! I apply to sooo many places, and most of them I never ever hear from! Occasionally I'll get called in to an interview, then never hear from the company after the interview! It is no fun at all! Good luck with your job search!

I hate job hunting too, but I am being forced to do it now. I had what I thought was a good interview last week so I just hope and pray it turns out the way I want and I can give up the hunt, because one time I was looking for a job I had 15 interviews before I finally landed something. Last time I was looking it wasn't so bad, so I hope I get this particular job. It would save me alot of stress.

I've been unemployed for 10 months, I live in Laredo TX. my most recent job was out of Atlanta GA. that's where I'm drawing my unemployment from. The problem for me is they want 3 searches a week documented! That's great except, I'm what's known as a road warrior I do manufacturing installations, there are no jobs like this in Laredo and the whole town speaks Spanish, and I'm not totally fluent in Spanish, so I'm forced to go online for my job search and there is nothing out there? If they audit my search I'm screwed! I look every day at the 4 largest career sites online! To make matters worse I'm 61 yrs. old! I used to do the hiring for a large company I worked for and I'd never hire anyone that old! So I'm basically screwed. tdemex

Good luck finding something yourself. 10 months is a long time to be out of a job.

l agree with you but unfortunataly the only way l know how to deal with the stress is to talk about it and as you are doing that l really hope that it will not get you down too much

It has not gotten me down too much. YET! Doing senseless things on the internet for awhile to clear my head seems to help.

I agree. It's hard to get a job without experience, but hard to get experience without a job, and it seems like no one is hiring these days, or if they are, I'm not qualified. It really kind of sucks that you have to do so much just to stand out when applying and all that, but in the end, that doesn't even work. I kind of don't want to waste all that energy on it anymore. I think I just might be running OUT of energy.

It is extremely stressful! I have a job although my salary has been cut in half, but my husband will be out of a job in about three weeks, and he has me sending resumes out left and right. He is actively pursuing employment on his own, but wants me to get the paperwork end of it done for him. Needless to say, its been very stressful for both of us. I try to take breaks and do something else for a while. I also find that exercise helps me and makes me feel refreshed to start searching anew. Hope you find one soon!

Yeah, I agree, job hunting really does stink. I have been out of work for over a year. I have not landed anything yet. When I get too frustrated, I let it go for a day or two. There are just too many people looking for work, so when there is an available job, thousands of people are applying for it, so that makes your chances of landing that job limited. I wish you a lot of luck, and hope you can get a job soon.

Thanks. That is one of the problems about living in a larger area. There are more people than there are jobs anymore it seems.

i do believe with your that job hunting sucks and many times one wonder if companies and industries out there still employ people, so i do believe that one of the escape routes of this situation is getting a good online job or a home base business which can guaranty continuous income

i deal with the stres by takin a break sometimes....if your hunting consistanly for weeks i think that your stress level with effect you in the interview, and you might not even come off as yourself....finding a job with this economy is very hard...better chances finding hidden tresure it seems....hang in there...take a break...dont lose hope...and most importainly...be yourself!

I was forced to take the day off from job hunting today due to a sick child. I got a call this afternoon about a job I applied for a few weeks ago that I thought was a lost cause. I have an interview tomorrow morning.

I know what you mean, it's really hard to actually find the time to hunt for jobs. But they say that the economy is going to pick up soon and then there should be lots more jobs out there. But what do you do until then? I'm having a really hard time just getting by now. I just hope I get some hope soon.

I was having to job hunt when I was put on bed rest. But I know how frustrating it can be. My fiancee was picked out of over 500 applications for his job. We were so lucky that he got it. Just keep your chin up. If you go to the unemployment office, you can take a free class where they will help you make your resume look better. They know what employers are looking for, and they will really help you out. Good luck!!

It can get really stressful when your looking for a job, there could really be a lot of things that would go to your head. But my best advise for you is to "Think Positive" even if things are in a whirlwind or if things aren't going exactly the way you want them to. You have to have the positivity inside you to be able to surpass them all.

Talk of job hunting and its stress!! My hubby’s been job hunting for the entire of July…even today he’s gone for an interview. He’s not out of the present job as of now but will be any day…he’s is a marketing job and he’s been juggling both the inside and outside jobs and job hunting as well. To top it all is the fear that maybe by the end of this month, he’d be jobless…and I really don’t understand what’s going on really coz wherever he’s applying or going for interviews, nothing seems to be working…companies at which he would not even look a few years back are now acting smart with all applicants…it seems they cant make up their mind whether to hire or not! And then there are the backdoor entrants too… The entire process has been so stressful till now that I don’t remember the last time both of us had a good laugh or a relaxing chat…nerves are frayed and tempers strained for both of us.

Stress is a deadly thing! I find that if I take one hour to myself during the day and exercise using Yoga and running every other day for about the same time, it helps to alliviate most of my stress. I feel your stress, and yes there are thousands of individuals out there trying to fight for the same jobs you are fighting for. That is my problem also, but I just try to be myself and if that is not what they are looking for then let it be. I have even thought about going back to college for another degree. Needless to say I have a family at home now and need food on the table in the morning, afternoon, and night. There is only so much one person can do, so do not overdue it yourself. Take Care
