The Sun has come right down to Earth, it lives in my backyard. 115 in the shade, my throat and skin are charred. The locals say "it's a dry heat" YEAH, like an oven or a crematorium. I hope I don't spontaneously combust, or have my brain fry inside my cranium. The roaches are running rampant, Cicadas buzzing in the trees. Flies and wasps and black widows, if you're lucky, some killer bees. But that's not the only wildlife, there's herds of tourists on the strip. They walk around in slow motion, and suddenly stop to make you trip. The traffic, the smog, buffet indigestion. you think Hell is hot, we're hotter. Don't gamble all your money away, save $5.00 for a bottle water. © Sconibear 2009 How's your summer so far???

So far my summer is anywhere from 95 - 110 during the day and as low as the 60's at night. In addition to "it's a dry heat", the expression here in Sacramento is "at least we have the delta breeze". We get breezes in up the Sacramento river delta from the ocean, so at least it usually cools off at night. The sun goes back in the sky and goes to bed!

yeah, I used to live in Anaheim and getting air coming off the ocean sure makes things a little more tolerable in the summer.

Seriously $5 for a bottle of water? Wow,We can get water for about $0.59-$1.49 a bottle depending on where we get it. That is hot we have been getting alot of rain so it is much cooler then the past summers we have had. Usually by now it is close to the 100's but we have been in the 80's most of the time, but we have had a few that were in the 90's but only a few..

Wouldn't it be easier to just take the empty bottles to Vegas and fill them up there? Since that would be mighty heavy to lug them around..I'm sure they would be a park fountain or gas station bathroom somewhere that you could fill up free. Well, it could help pay for the trip there.

actually it's not that much if you go to a local store, but they can get that on the strip. I can't drink the tap water here cuz it smells and tastes like A$$ (my opinion....some people drink it) i fill up jugs from one of those water purifying stations for 25 cents per gallon..........for all I know, it's probably just a garden hose hooked up to the thing but it tastes better than what comes out of our tap......or I should say, it has NO taste like water is supposed to.

Our well water was nasty and smelled and tasted like crap..literally.You smell worse after a shower then before you took one. So I was glad when we got city water in. Cost a small fortune(1,562)but way worth it.

Ewwww ... sounds vile, Sconi! My daughter was in Vegas a few weeks ago - she had a gorgeous view from the hotel window of the Bellagio fountain. Nice. I hope she didn't walk around in slow motion and make you trip ...

Hey sconi! You sure make Las Vegas sound so inviting! I really think that I would pass up and invitation right about now even if it were for free! Is it really that bad? Hell, I'm going to Florida a week from today and the weather is hot, humid and plenty of thunderstorms! Sound inviting? Nope, not to me either, but I have to go see my Mom! Yup! Mandatory trip! I am terrified of flying, have lousy seats on the plane way in the back by the bathroom, if I even make it there I will maybe be able to go swim between the raindrops and so much for my getting tan! If I'm stuck in the house with Mom I will freak because there's no computer! Sound like a dream vacation! That will be 9 full days of hell!

That sounds like one summer I spent in Dallas. It was so hot that me and the kids spent most of the day in the pool. Our apartment building had an air conditioner system that was supposed to cool the whole building. It was a water cooled system so it would only bring the temperature down by 15 degrees. So do the math if it's 120 outside it was still 105 inside.

LOL - that was too cute. Back in June was looking up tickets to visit the city that never sleeps. Was there some years back and loved it! I loved the weather because zero humidity. Here it's 70% humidity at 7 in the morning! I remember the water carts a long the strip. They make a mint they do. Summer here is shapping up pretty good. School starts in less than a month and the summertime projects never happened, but oh well, next year will come too.

If its 115 degress its hot, doesn't matter if its wet or dry. You can still cook an egg on the sidewalk. I was out in Vegas in the summertime, its flippin hot out. I am from Ohio so I know about the humidity. Anyway with all the casinos, with all the fountains, pools and such, that does help raise up the humidity. Vegas in the summertime is just plain hot.

Memories, it was 120 here 6 months ago, winds over 100 km/h, half the state went up in flames and hundreds perished. All the vegies dried up and blew away, except one mysterious tomato plant which is still growing, it's mid winter here at the moment and this weird thing has me stumped, must be a Russian variety I guess, that like the cold, unknown to me previously, this winter tomato thing. Hope you have a nice event free cool down.

My summer has been wonderful. I am spending great quality time with my daughter. And watching my son learn new things everyday. He is 7 months old. I think it is a great age. It has been cooler than most summers, and we are doing more.

Oh had experienced the same last summer here in the Phils. don't know where to go just to escape that seemed to be a killer heat. We don't have aircon that's why had to go to the nearby mall just to have a cooler sorroundings. You had to eat out at the fastfoods there just to let the time pass. So happy rainy days come...
