you always here the saying "no one is above the law". but do you really believe that? on a day to day basis i hear rich people getting out of jail time because they can pay. there are those who a committed serious crime but only spent one day in jail because they can post bail. in my country, the rich is above the law. crime syndicates can pay for good lawyers who can manipulate the truth at the palm of their hands. corruption is so rampant by the government officials and no one ever even dare lay a finger on them. needless to say, that as good as the statement no on is above the law is, i don't believe that in this cynic world, power and money dominates justice. do you sometimes get frustrated about events happening in society today? do you really believe that no one is above the law? please share your opinion. thank you! :-)

There is a say " People are born equal", but I think everyone is born unequal. To those who break the laws, those who have plenty of money can hire good lawers and they can post bail and get out of prison, well... that's the things we couldnt change.

good point there elaine and you too worm_messiah. please allow me to add if you don't mind? i think the full statement there is, "people are created equal in the eys of God." indeed we were born equal. but men do not treat each other fairly, i think. we each have our own biases and prejudice. we see somebody superior and inferior based on our perceptions. society also enthrones the idea that money equals power. that's just created by a faulty system of believe. well, feel free to disagree anytime if you don't believe what i say. great discussion so far!

Really now. If man creates and enforces law. Why can he not be above it? Its just something people say to make themselves feel better. safer.

man create laws. congress (or the legislative branch) actually passes them and then it is implemented by the state. although we create the laws, we should not be above it. being above the law means that you are actually above it's power. so that means if you commit a crime, that law has no hold on you and you can't get arrested for it because you are higher than the law. in an ideal world this should not be. but that is not the case in the real world. i just would like to clarify something worm_messiah. are you saying that you actually agree that man should be above the law? or was i wrong in my interpretation? i'd like to hear more about your opinion because i didn't quit get it, sorry.

No no. I do think that no man should be above law. What Im saying is since man created law then theres always going to be a way around it. Because of corruption and mans nature and whatknot.
