Hello all, I really want to know if some of you have any tips about how to keep the laptop battery so it last longer? From some of my friends' experience, their laptop battery can only hold for about 1 and maximum 2 years. After that they have buy the new one again, especially because they used it a lot in a place where there is no direct electrical connection. So, If you have some tips to keep the lifetime of battery laptop longer, please inform me. Thank you so much.

Hi, hendritanbm. The only thing that I know of is to keep your laptop plugged into the socket so that it can charge as much as it can. And make sure that you don't expose your battery to anything that would cause it to go bad. Keep it safe from any and all possible dangers.

I've heard somewhere that nickel-cadmium batteries must be completely discharged every once in a while. Also, do not keep your battery plugged in a charging for a long period of time. This will ruin it and will decrease the battery life.

it is better to hibernate the laptop rather than shutting it too often...

Use your battery less is the best way to keep your battery lasting longer. So when possible plug your laptop into the mains so it is not relying on the battery as much because using your laptop less all together is not a real option to most people. Other than that I have no idea.

the cpu gpu and ram usage is the most battery drainer. I think that ubuntu or any other lower usage OS will keep laptop power longer than windows. all my friends using laptops for unplugged travels and such use ubuntu and other linux OS. If you are just working on windows for progs and such. then I would suggest to close as many tasks running as possible.

I have some problems with my battery, its indicate that it is on charge now, however, there is 0% available. I am really worried about this. Maybe it is time for me to change a new one. I use it for about two years.

I think it is better not let your laptop battery keeps charging all the time. If you don't use it, then unplug it. I think perhaps this will be helpful for the battery to last a longer time. I love China

Hello, I use lap top all my life and most of my lap top's battery is last around 3-4 years or so. well, all I do when I start my brand new lap top... I just recharge my battery full and once it full then I just unplug it and use as it is. when it uses all up it battery then I just recharge it again. To do this is help your battery stay longer and you can use it without plugging it for at least 2 to 3 hours. never keep recharge even it is full... cuz it will damage your battery... this work with cell phone as well. try it and it will help you save.

Hi, my laptop battery is broken now, and it takes me a lot of trouble, I have to take my charger whenever I use my laptop, it's not convenience for me, and I ask my IT friend, he said that we'd better charge the battery everyday. And I know it's hard for me to do that.

All rechargeable batteries will last generally, depending on a lot of things, 1.5-3 years. The best way to prolong the life of your battery is simply to use it only when its needed. If you are not using your computer, it is best to turn it off, and not leave it on standby 24-7after that time, the battery will hold so little charge, will last for such a short time before needing a recharge, that you will be forced to buy a new one. Usually, keeping it plugged in is good, but if you take it off, but then plug it back in when battery is at like 90% is NOT good for the battery. If you take the laptop around often, then its best to allow the battery to get down about 10% and then recharge, rather then recharging whenever the battery isn't 100%. Lastly, about the additional battery, its just another battery you would have to carry with you. when your current one runs out, you have to save your stuff, shut down the laptop, replace the battery, and then turn on again

Hi,don't play computer games or DVD movies-multimedia activities drain laptop batteries.Dimming your display save battery power.Use notebook touch pad instead of an external mouse.Decrease laptop speaker volume.Turn off Auto-save features in all applications.Programs that are run from DVD or CD can be copied to and run from the hard drive, which typically consumes less power.

To make the laptop battery last longer you should make sure that its always fully charged. And use its power saving option, if not in use close other services like blue tooth, wifi and other extra services.

Hi hendritanbm, I suggest you disable your bluetooth device, webcam, or any other devices which you do not currently need. These items consume battery charge as well. Avoid playing videos in battery mode as it also drains battery quickly.

For a long lasting laptop battery what needs to be done is to make sure you emptied the charge on the battery and after you use your laptop take the battery out on the laptop. As much as possible, if you don't need to use your battery, just use the power cord for direct connection on the power supply. Don't expose your battery to too much heat as these may cause your battery life reduce. my one cent.. Hope these Helps..Happy Mylotting!
